If these APIs risk creating privacy problems, why did Apple add them to the platform in the first place? Why is Apple letting their first party apps access these dangerous APIs? If privacy and security really were the number one priority, t

False negatives are a thing. If they've got a 99.9% success rate at blocking password attacks, it means there's 7 qps of successes. That's 500k hijacked accounts per day, 200M per year. That is a very large number. And not a

Would building that North-South transfer capacity even help? It seems like the basic mental model here is that it would equalize prices between Northern Sweden and Germany, not between Northern and Southern Sweden. And Germany is quite a bi

(Note that the Rust implementation is by Facebook, not by Google.) If you're looking to embed a scripting language in a Go program, having a embedded language implementation written in Java isn't very useful. And vice versa.

This is neither a new idea or a good one. Cloudflare did a PR launch of pretty much the same thing a few years back, and that you haven't actually seen it in the wild probably tells you all you need to know about how useful it is. Weba

I don't think this actually is a parody like the author claims. It's more of a pastiche, but a pretty bad one since the core conceit of Story of Mel was that it was real, while this is just made up nonsense.

The tricky part isn't money on a digital ledger. That's easy enough to handle with e.g. a one-off deposit tax (IIRC used as recently as the Euro crisis). There's no operational problem here, it just needs to be legislated to
