The full feature overview can be found here: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Platform/Features/Camera_API I've been looking at the UI overviews for Firefox's upcoming features, and it's remarkable how they compress a ton of UX information into a

That may be Github's intention - to build a simple interface that makes it extremely easy to get your feet wet with GIT. Several of the design decisions they've made - replacing pull and push commands with Sync, automatically stashing chang

Just goes to show how good HTML is for prototyping these days. The github page indicates that it took less than 2 days from start to finish, and hardly anything is missing from the full-fledged app.

Fantastic idea! I've recently taken to discarding my bookmarks and relying on other methods to save interesting links. If I want to save something for later use, I'll tweet about it, write a tiny blog post about it, or jot it down in a note

Is this the paper: http://www.cs.ox.ac.uk/files/2217/2008_Bradbury%20D.pdf ? I'm looking forward to reading it tonight. I've been experimenting with a module that profiles Django applications and reports on slow or unused methods. Part of

It's a shame the interviewer didn't know more about cars - there were some pretty interesting questions that were left unanswered in that video. For anyone wondering, 0-60 in 4.4 seconds isn't just fast for a minivan, it's fast for any car.

Good point. Another issue that might be how integrated the version control system could be into the graphics app. Github will never aim to integrate itself deeply into Photoshop, so designers would be forced to visit a browser to see change

Clever of them to show a custom welcome message for Hacker News visitors. I love how it jumps you right into a demo app with no login or registration steps. The functionality and usefulness of this service is fantastic, but I wonder how har

My experience has taught me that it can be all or nothing at during a startup's inception. At my last startup, we had to work incredibly hard to keep our first customers happy. I do, however, think 37s is right when they say that you can tu

I wonder if the chance to work for a good cause is a natural filter for exceptional engineers. When you've already made millions, or when your reputation allows you to get any job you want, money surely becomes a much smaller work incentive

Sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see how first hand how some pretty famous developers work. The company now employs both the creator of jQuery and the first Google employee, and that's just the development side!

Goes to show how close we are to 3d chatting. If this could be combined with a high quality video feed and some clever, C3-style mapping technologies, you could probably get a much more engaging video chat experience. I wonder if this might

This was the most interesting part of the article for me: "However the thing that we pay very close attention to is user feedback after a product is released. And not the day of, knee jerk reactions, but long term. For example, I have per

I don't think anyone expects 3D TV sales to take off for the foreseeable future. We don't have enough content, and 3D TV prices are still too inflated, for the casual consumer to be enticed. When 3D TVs are priced as cheaply as regular sets

Two things I picked up from this: 1) It's really import to have software chops as a startup founder. Top Hat Monocle started off with a CTO co-founder that was dedicated to development, but it seems like coding took up most of the time for

I'm a developer at Top Hat Monocle. There have been a number of posts attacking App Engine recently, and a lot of good discussions have come out of them. The two things issues that seem to get brought up most are app design and reliability.

Very graceful of you. On a slightly related note, I'll be taking advantage of the JetBlue promotion all September (22 segments, not quite as hardcore), and I'd love to coordinate with a couple other HNers to see if we can meet up some time.
