It's "interesting" because it's of general interest to anybody (anybody in the U.S, that is), not because hackers would have a particular reason to find it interesting. I thought it was off topic: > Off-Topic: Most stories about politic

The main problem Netflix is facing is not subscribers quitting because of a price hike but their seeming inability to make progress expanding their streaming catalogue.

I always thought Henry Ford "won" because he innovated on the manufacturing process with his introduction of the assembly line, which allowed him to produce better and cheaper automobiles more quickly than his competitors. I had never heard

The fly-in animation drives me insane. I feel ridiculous that such a little thing bothers me so much, but every time I've tried to switch from Textmate to ST2 I've gotten hung up on those little details. They hurt my brain, and when I'm usi

Gotcha. So this app is for authenticating account holders of the Mailchimp product, not for authenticating subscribers in your Mailchimp account. That's where my confusion was. I do a lot of development with Django and MailChimp, but most o

I know what Mailchimp, Django and OAuth2 are, but I'm struggling to understand the purpose of this library. Can you shed a bit of light on how or where this might be used?

Some weird part of me loves this, and I don't know why. That said, I'm very confused. The post says these sites are running off of your "awesome" backend: * http://www.pud.com * http://adhdinc.com But those are just pages with link

Good find. I was about to post a link to that very same discussion, because the same thing crossed my mind. Interestingly there was a lot of negativity in that discussion about the author's idea. Criticism was mainly along the lines of "it'

I think the possibility of dynamically changing the speed of the spinner is interesting. If your spinner was representing a file upload, for example, you could conceivably adjust the speed based on the current upload rate.

Well, I can understand them requiring you to pick one name as your primary name. While e.g. a feature that allowed you to present a different name to different Circles might be a good one, I don't think it's unfair of them not to implemen

I don't understand. I just read the policy and it doesn't say anything about using your legal name (i.e. the one on your ID). It says: "Your common name is the name your friends, family or co-workers usually call you. For example, if your l

The feature you are describing was just committed to Django trunk this a.m. The main docs have not been updated with it yet, but you can view the docs in this changeset to see how it will work: https://code.djangoproject.com/changeset/16

Thanks, it makes perfect sense and is pretty much why I virtually never use mocks. In fact, my personal philosophy is at odds with most advice I have seen around unit testing, in that I try to avoid the use of even stubs wherever possible

I've always thought of testing as simply a way to verify that your code does what is supposed to do. I tend to agree with you that TDD as a development methodology is deeply flawed. I have never found that the act of writing a test case and

Can you expand a bit on the distinction you're making between mocks and stubs, and why you believe stubs are both underused and useful? Perhaps I'm doing it wrong, but I've found in my experience that bugs I miss in testing increase proport

Surely there is a legal precedent which provides at least some framework for what can or cannot be seized during a warrant search? This can't be the first time government agents have mistakenly seized property in an otherwise lawful search.
