Cover letters are useless. Really, try to have some empathy for people trying to get jobs in a tough market (I guess this doesn't apply to the currently employed or developers...). You have to apply to a LOT of stuff, and employers almost n

You're mixing up contract law and IRS regulations. The $1 sale is a valid contract, but somebody will likely pay taxes on it, probably the recipient since he received a house at below fair value, which can be considered income.

Kind of a ridiculous comment. I would buy groceries for someone and deliver them if they gave me 1 Bitcoin. I would also hand them my homegrown vegetables for a Bitcoin.

I don't think humans evolved with alarm clocks. In an ideal world, would you not let yourself sleep as long as your brain deems appropriate? I think sunset and sunrise times would end up meaning a lot more. The post also doesn't seem to acc

How did you find the "need" for Brightpod? It's niche, so I'm wondering how to find gaping holes in software offerings for small businesses. Everyone talks about how SMEs desperately need software, but how do I find out what these needs are

It might be worth mentioning that India has a large generic pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. Many generics sold in the US and around the world are manufactured in India.

Yeah. Always thought I'd love to work at home; now I'm doing it and I'm not a big fan. I desire to have a separate place to go just for work. I think what people (myself included) really want is the ability to leave the office whenever they

I find the "negotiate with collectors, they'll take anything" advice all over the internet, but in reality I've never been able to negotiate with collection agencies. They will do payment plans of a couple of months, but they will never acc

A net negative force on the world? Seriously? How is that? I got good deals, businesses got to try a new marketing method, many did well, some poorly. No businesses were coerced or forced into offering a coupon on LS. I fail to see how they

This is why consumers should be made literate in financial laws. Those bills don't need to crush your life. They come in the mail, toss them in the trash. There's nothing they can do. When you're that broke, why do you care about your credi

I know of a lot of "boring" businesses that make buckets of cash. That's what I'm interested in. The tech press isn't, because interesting reporting on them involves lots of research and diving into the real story. They want an easy headlin

Congrats on the success! I'm actually contemplating moving to another country (albeit a more expensive, but wealthier, country) to target an under-served market. I'd love to hear more about how you found small business clients and pitched t

What's the big deal? People send unsolicited emails/tweets to other HN posters all the time. I'd like to think we're past the point where intermingling the "real world" (phone) with the "internet world" is deemed "creepy."

You didn't explain anything besides "his father is a VP at Morgan Stanley." The rest is just hyperbole and sensationalism. Explain how VP of Morgan Stanley => Yahoo buying startup for $30M. There are hundreds of VPs at Morgan Stanley.

Give the impression that Yahoo is being loose with its money in acquisitions. Have VCs and founders pitch Yahoo first when looking for a buyer. But in reality I don't think Yahoo is that cunning, I think they actually are just clueless.

Hmm, Wevorce raises some questions. I don't know if their disclaimer about how they are not really a law firm would pass muster. If they are providing legal services, they can't raise funds from non-lawyers.

I don't think Zara's supply chain innovation has gone unnoticed. I think many if not most in the fashion industry understand that it's the reason they excel. I'm wondering what other industries are ripe for disruption-by-supply-chain. Dell

Australia's education sector is catching the bug though. They want the profitable grad education, and thus Melbourne uni now offers only a JD (3 year graduate program).
