Gumtree is a richer form of our Craigslist. I've had better experiences on Gumtree, because there's less volume and better sorting. Craigslist is a non-profit, though.

Yeah, sorry, what I meant was that I'm definitely set on doing the tutorial. I'm just not sure if I should go through the 4.0 draft or the older version that's been up there. Would it be more practical to learn on 4.0?

I was just about to start the tutorial for this reason. I don't have any Rails experience but I've been learning basic Ruby. Should I start with this (4.0) tutorial?

This is what happens in democracies. The local councils and city governments open their doors and drool over anyone willing to buy property. Property price rises and thus increases the revenues they can bring in any play with. There is almo

This is awesome, bookmarked. This will help me because I've always struggled with CSS since I never sat down and actually learned it. Just one thing - much of the text doesn't seem to render so smoothly. Is that intentional or is it just me

Spam isn't really an issue for me. I simply don't see it in Gmail. A bigger annoyance is constant newsletters/emails sent from companies whom I might have transacted with long ago in the past. I have to take time to unsubscribe from all thi

Tech guys need to stop scoffing at non-tech "business" guys looking for co-founder arrangements. Yes, there are a lot of "startup groupies" out there who don't add any value, but someone with solid marketing abilities and/or "hustle" could

There are plenty of massive, dominant private companies. Koch, SC Johnson, the list goes on ... The nature of VC or anyone investing OPM requires a short horizon. When it's your own money you don't ever have to cash out.

To be fair, the Lakers and Facebook were, and are, sexy-as-hell businesses. Owning the Lakers speaks for itself, as does owning, at age 22, the hottest business that every college girl is addicted to. Not that they don't both have incredibl

I would imagine if someone told me about a "microblogging" platform where people would submit posts via SMS to a shortcode I would have brushed it off as foolish.

Hold on. MG Siegler and Arrington were investors in Mailbox? This kind of conflict is really unacceptable. Bloggers need to get real about ethics if they want to be taken seriously as journalists.

Cost? An acquisition isn't a "cost." However, this one surely will become a cost when they write down the value of Mailbox by $99.95 million.

Yes, just take a look at Australia's capital gains taxation to see where their priorities are. In fact, there is no capital gains tax. It's all taxed as income. There is no incentive to sweat it out for years building equity because once yo

You forgot to mention housing (property) investment. Australians worship real estate investment above all things. Most think property will still double every few years even though they are already at insanely high levels.
