Ruining the game for everyone; two things I love about Helvetica — Terminals at right angles to the stroke. http://c.jon.gd/image/3Q0y2u323j3C . Arial looks particularly sloppy with jaunty terminals. It is possible to have a similar grote

Been following Andrew for years; this is great news. For those of you who only know him for the Microsoft branding I highly recommend you read the rest of his blog. I think he's the most promising industrial designer of our generation; the

Totally agree; been guilty of it myself in the past. Getting the perfect modular golden-ratio-derived grid is less important than shipping, but being excellent is better than being good . Designer culture in startups is still relatively ne

Are people who think designers are crazy, crazy? Not to be a dick but the other day with the WP-Svbtle thing you demonstrated you don't understand principles of design. That's cool; you don't have to. But this is just trolling man.

+1 for Steven Pressfield. I read Turning Pro first after this excerpt on 99u and loved it; The War of Art was cool too but kind of cringey & self-helpy in places. http://99u.com/articles/7192/Are-You-Trapped-in-a-Shadow-Car...

Totally wrong. Svbtle is a brand. It's a minimalist layout, but copying it intrinsically suggests misleading your readers. You wouldn't make your new tech blog have the same theme as TNW or TechCrunch, and you wouldn't theme your Telescope

Partially agree. A couple of points: - I like how he shows integration with a couple of different backends (Sinatra & Node). Makes it more practical and 'real world' than just 'assume we have this bit of JSON to work with'. - As other p

Starting Strength is the way to go. Reddit, 4chan and SomethingAwful all have fantastic weightlifting communities; has really helped me cut through the BS you get fed by Men's Health etc.

As with everything on that blog: total BS. Flat design isn't an 'aesthetic'; it's the result of considered design thinking. Picking 'flat design style' instead of x or y 'design style' is to cheapen yourself as a designer to the level of an
