I think what they are saying is hopefully there is some mid cycle refresh that fixes this problem quietly.

I have a feeling a lot of people are going to say thinkpad. I have one and haven't turned it on for a couple years but I still think that's a common suggestion. The dell XPS 13 that someone mentioned in this thread seems like a de

A similar thing happened with an HP laptop I owned. They had problems with hinges breaking for no reason other than poor design. I searched online and found a bunch of people had the problem and some got it replaced as a manufacturing defec

Apple is probably the only company that comes to mind when I try to think of positive customer service experiences. Even when my apple care expired they still helped me. My MBP is now 6 years old, still trying to get my employer to replace

Cool but probably needs to be updated. I do know that cloudant was acquired by IBM.

I'm curious about this. What are the risks? I use my work device for everything. I can't afford to buy a laptop just for personal usage.

This site seems to be mostly about tech and business (plus other things that interest "hacker culture"). You can tell that cannibis is on it's way to be a big business. The direction we are heading is full legalization nation

I don't really notice withdrawal. I do have cravings for about a week then they go away. What I really notice when I'm on a keto diet is if I have a cheat meal with carbs I get a kind of high feeling in my brain. Seems like some k

Yeah. I have a hard time losing weight at 2,000 calories a day at a weight of 272. This person is either some type of endurance athlete (burns a ton of calories) or has a crazy metabolism. I run about 2 miles 2-3 days a week and do weight t

Correction, keto is not protein heavy. It's fat heavy, moderate protein, and low carb. It say "moderate" but I usually eat about the same amount of calories from fat that I do from protein. I don't think that is high pro

We've been pushed the low fat high carb diet for so long now that people are confused. Especially in the US. They are starting to come around to the idea that maybe fat isn't so bad. It's hard for people to understand dietary

The risk that I was speaking of specifically comes into play when you use GPL code along side other proprietary code. Potentially exposing the need to release your proprietary code to comply with the license.

I think hyperbole was pretty obvious in my original comment but I don't have a citation other than experience. We're working hard to remove GPL code in some of our products.

I'm torn on this VMWare issue. On one hand I want GPL to be upheld. On the other hand if they win it will mean the end of most corporations using GPL code (possibly any open source licensed code that isn't as liberal as MIT or som

There aren't really alternative other options (aside from a DD and or just being responsible). Most rural people can't even get a cab.

I think this stems from so many articles about "passion" I see on HN. That and when I look at job posting they always want someone who has contributed to a significant amount of projects on github. If you can't share your day

I usually just go to the fallbacks because I honestly have no questions. So I just go to the standard BS. I don't really care about the company to be honest. I've never liked any job I've ever had in this industry and I don&#

I tried this with one of my projects. I ended up getting offers for a few hundred dollars on flippa. I decided to keep it but now it's always in the back of my mind. I think I might just have to shut it down so I can move on.

Yeah my new rule of thumb is to avoid telling them what I make and try to tell them what it will take for me to leave my current position. I think I'm underpaid so I don't want to start by telling them how underpaid I am.
