The budget is how I know I’m being diligent with my money - but it’s just a means to a goal. Every financial app I’ve tried fall short in several areas I’m interested in. That’s why I built what I was looking for. I use it in conjunction wi

Congrats. Building something others use and deciding that isn’t sustainable are both great milestones. I created a more modest finance app (forecasting [1] and budgeting [2]). The Plaid integration alone was one I quickly realized I didn’t

We had to purchase/lease HP storage servers with 10x the storage we needed for our photo startup in 2006. The lead time to get a server was weeks so there was very little elasticity to respond to non linear growth. Would have been a lo

Seems like an area where most people with a vested interest have access to ample data…and it doesn’t seem like a degree in psychology or statistics is necessary to draw conclusions - it is so obvious. Rarely will you find a parent who says

I have 4 kids. My wife and I joke that if anything happens to one that we have spares. It’s a joke but there’s truth in it. It got me to think about parents with a single kid. Parents carry the burden to keep their kids alive to survive the

It came with age and time for me. I don’t care for bells and whistles nearly as much as I used to. And I would rather pay more for something that does its thing really well and reliably. I’ve learned that I don’t get as much real world valu

Most companies are trying to figure out exactly what generative AI is and how to use it in their business. Given how new this is - I doubt any large company has done much besides ban the public ChatGPT. So this is probably very relevant for

Yeah - I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here. A .7% chance of being at a school with a mass shooting is unfathomable. It's so high.

Can duct tape programmers survive at companies? Seems like everything would be a force against them. On the other hand, it’s not uncommon if you browse some of the more stellar GitHub repos.

A 3.7% death rate for the flu seems...very high. That's saying about 1 in 25 people who catch the flu will die? That is not my lived experience. The CDC site says .2 deaths per 100k people. I didn't see how many people per 100k ca

Agree all kids are different. Our daughter is less affected than our son. But in both cases, they are happier and more creative (as kids should be) when we remove devices altogether. I’m not sure what curation you’re talking about. YouTube

Oddly, I am most productive when I have time to be slow. I make 10x better decisions about what to do, how to do it, and in many cases why NOT to do it. This isn’t very conducive to corporate work though. It’s about timelines and features p
