Great teaching tool for hello world type stuff, and UML is nice for design documents that present data models and such. Beyond that, for real engineering? I've worked with EEs who write massive applications in Labview -- their codebas

That's true, of course. But the Yakuza are kind of an "honorable criminal" type. They don't foist their criminal actions on the general populace. It's a bit complicated, and doesn't make a lot of sense in the

Their conviction rate is over 99% as I recall, and it's essentially all coerced confessions. Once they make an arrest, that person will be convicted. A Japanese prisoner has zero rights in Japan. A Gaijin has even less. Lived there f

There's no free lifetime healthcare. It's less expensive than private health care, but it's not free, and it doesn't cover everything, and it's standard government run bullshit. And it goes away as soon as you beco

Well OS X is a BSD, so I use BSD for my desktop OS because that's what comes on my Mac... But seriously, the only successful desktop Unix or "Unix like" OS has been OS X, and it's really a joy to use. I don't have

I concur, have never heard of this practice. It was extremely rare for anyone to have tattoos even sixty years ago. SSNs were definitely less protected -- I remember mine showing up on my student ID in the 80s, on school rosters in the Nav
