I'm sorry to hear about your illness, I hope you're doing better now. Personally I have found the market to be quite good recently, at least based on my LinkedIn inbound. Something that might help is to condense your resume to 1-2

I’m not saying that everyone in the Netherlands agrees with me. I’m just illustrating that it’s perfectly possible to live in a city like Paris or Amsterdam with a family and without a car.

What you’re describing is perfectly possible without a car. I live in Amsterdam and have a young family. We own an electric cargo bike that we use for groceries and to cart around our daughter. You can use it with an infant car seat and for

An important distinction is that US and EU interests aligned on many important areas up until recently. So it was less of a subservient relationship, and more of a mutually beneficial one. Now that the US wants to turn it into a subservient

Many tools that increase your productivity as a developer take a while to master. For example, it takes a while to become proficient with a debugger, but I'd still wager that it's worth it to learn to use a debugger over just rely

As the car is sold outside of North America (with a promise of FSD) , you don't think it's fair to expect it to recognise the speed limit signs in the country that the car is sold?

The assumption that neobanks always use a sponsor bank is false. Most European neobanks have a full banking license.

I'm on board with assuming that the intent of Google / the engineers who built the classifier is not racist. However the outcome — labelling a black person as a gorilla — certainly is racist. What makes you think otherwise?

The title makes it sound like Prime Video abandoned microservices all-together, but in reality they only did so for a single service.

The title is editorialised to be clickbait. The original title is "Scaling up the Prime Video audio/video monitoring service and reducing costs by 90%". They changed a single service, the Prime Video audio/video monitori

It’s not necessarily recklessness. Cars in the US have gotten much larger and heavier in recent years. A Ford F150 might be safe to drive, but it’s not safer for pedestrians and other road users than the smaller cars we used to have.

I've been working on a geospatial application, and one of the use cases was finding intersections between large sets of polygons. For some use cases you might not need a separate data store like this. I used an in-memory RTree in Golan

I was quite surprised that the 75 percentile salary is highest in Amsterdam. Anecdotally it seems that the top end of salaries is much higher in London than in Amsterdam, but maybe that doesn't show until the 90-95th percentile.

This isn't the case in London (which is what the parent comment is referring to). In London you can probably half that base.

I mentioned £200k because it's near the top end for a senior engineer in London (although not the very top). FAANG, some Unicorns, trading firms will pay this to a senior engineer. Bear in mind this is total compensation, so part of th

Unless you already have top of market compensation, I'd focus on interviewing for a higher paying job rather than do more work on the side. Going by the ££ signs I'm assuming you can get a job in London, where you can make >£20
