Yes Google/waymo has been at it since 2009. Musk better deliver the self-driving vaporware [1] he started selling since Oct'16 as shown in the video in https://www.tesla.com/autopilot before he can stall the lawsu

Hah, one of the many reasons being scammed into buying a model S was they promised Tesla owners would have first access to Model 3 back in Oct'16 but they failed to mention that the base $35 + 5K autopilot model would be another year l

Perfect it before selling vaporware or risking it like Uber and Tesla. They are partnering with Manufacturers already e.g. https://www.theverge.com/2018/4/2/17189764/waymo-honda-self-... https:/&#x

You could achieve the same level of comfort today on many common cars with adaptive cruise control. Autopilot gives you a false sense of security when it works great 90% of the time.

That may be correct as IIHS took few months and concluded in Jan'17. People are still waiting for in-house Autopilot aka AP2 to reach feature parity with mobileey AP1 if you follow https://forums.tesla.com/forum/fo

They're not comparable at all. Google/Waymo uses lidar and has been at it since 2009 and per https://waymo.com/faq they are "fully automated vehicle" but alas not for sale yet. Tesla's self-driving

They don't have to suspend Autopilot as legally they can claim they require you to be fully alert at all times. Of-course this negates all benefits of Autopilot and still let's them continue to scam people into selling Tesla'
