I would argue that allowing the police to fire individuals from companies would be an egregious violation of human rights on par with disallowing free speech.

I mean, Id argue that is exactly the way the system is designed, and it mostly does the job it is designed to do, not just a side effect. Defining what makes a non-hostile workplace is hard, enforcing it on individuals is harder, so instead

The police are not primarily there to solve civil disputes and disagreements. There is a pretty wide area where things are not illegal and possible to convict, but you would probably want to do something. The police’s mindset (at least the

I strongly disagree. In a hotel I can call the reception and get them to deal with noise pretty quickly. In an apartment I’m stuck with no quick recourse if a bunch of assholes use Airbnb to rent out a flat next door to have a weekend of bo

I paid for a year, but what used to be an obvious benefit is no longer that. I order some stuff, but had the same experience you did so I use orders less. Twitch prime used to justify paying half of the cost on its own, but that no longer g

Agile (of the scrummy, we just meet sprint goals that we set type) is not a project management solution, it is saying “well this seems hard, so we’re not going to do it”. Project management is happily alive. Thinking Agile in some way solve

I mean, the article says that 1 in 6 does. I’d say that is pretty ok if anything. That some people get disillusioned as they get older is probably normal. That most still are happy with work seems nice - there’s a lot of crappy jobs out the

Microsoft doesn’t know that you have a virus on your PC (and won’t call you about it) but Facebook can identify your friends in a photo you posted better than you can. That is not obvious to most people, because the concept of customer serv

Customer support can easily be a competitive advantage. I guarantee you that unless your company recently downsized (or is very small) there are things you can cut, because no one cared enough to fix them or they thought it was cool to have

This is sunk cost reasoning. No one takes on more debt / raises more funds unless they have to. If your company needs to raise more capital your stock options are worth exactly 0 dollars. You already lost that bet, because your company

Those are not contradictions, you realise that right? MLM schemes are bullshit, don’t waste your money. If you buy into Herbalife now you are truly not making a good decision, because there is already a huge pyramid of people above you. MLM

No we are still saying the same. Lots of people made money on pyramid schemes, that doesn’t make them a good investment. The longer a pyramid scheme runs, the dumber it is to invest in it. If you truthfully believe bitcoin will develop into

I am not sure why you turned this into a US military thing. Sweden has a thriving military export business (Bofors, SAAB) that is close to top of the world in USD per capita. Not wanting to work with that seems reasonable.

Process heaviness is not a goal. The secret is to be as close to the minimally viable as is safe. Undocumented code and decisions are just a more slowly accumulating cost, it is no less costly than bad or failing code. This is a reason I lo
