I'm on the other side I guess, but with the same conclusion. I can tell from the design that I will never wear those ear buds. There is no way to create a decent seal in the ear using just hard plastic, so the sound will suffer for mus

It sure would be in Jib Inc, the company that will launch about 5 minutes after no corporate taxes and will handle all of my personal finances. :) I'd pay myself a very basic salary, and if I needed emergency cash I could always borrow

Swedish conscription (before it was cancelled) was very close to voluntary anyways. When I did the tests for it, about 20 years ago, only about one in five or so were picked from the tests, and it was trivial to avoid being picked if you di

I'd suggest that isn't the case. I don't need a parent figure for me to fear or appease in order to act kindly to others, nor do I expect them to need one to act kindly to me.

Right, but you can control two of the parts of the equation fairly well - weight delta (scales, over time) and calories in (nutritional information).

Newtonian level of insight into fitness is super easy. (With Newtonian I mean enough true to get the work done, even if there is a higher level of truth underneath, i.e Einsteinian physics, quantum physics) Weight delta = calories in - calo

Casinos have an edge on blackjack. It's not a symmetrical game. They choose to not use the edge to its fullest extent sometimes, up to a point where it can be locally profitable to play if you count cards. That doesn't change the

It still is in most countries that aren't the US. My wife went back to complete a graphic design degree as a career change / work break. The opportunity cost of 4 years of not working is obviously huge, but the absolute cost was a

Work out in the morning every day (strength stuff with dumbbells as the gym in the office doesnt have barbells). I get up and walk around every couple of hours at least. Slouch in the chair the rest of the time. Any time I've tried to

I think that writing books about why people don't read books quite possibly is a bit of a self-congratulatory exercise. It's a bit like holding seminars on why people don't exercise at a gym, or about how bad it is that peopl

Swedish is an official language in Finland and the native language of about 5% or so of all Finnish people (think like French in Canada). Especially Åland Islands is heavily Swedish speaking.

Yeah it is a straw man from what I can see. "Math can be used to model just about everything, and so can make a meaningful contribution to almost every endeavour" is a completely different statement from "Everyone has access

I dunno, it seems weird to me to treat reddit as one community. I use reddit a lot, but really 99% of my interactions is on /r/cfb, which is a space far from the descriptions painted here. It is a community (and I do believe it is

People are freaking expensive. I think that is something that you miss easily. 200k sounds expensive for a printer, yet that is the cost of 1 guy for three years (assuming western country). The 200k machine just has to be a small bit better

I don't want an office. I explicitly say no to one each year. Not to say that many people don't want one, but for me it would be detrimental. Being in an open area lets me overhear things that are useful and removes one barrier to
