Amazon is a powerhouse cloud provider which gives them similar market power MSFT had with Windows. A true tech company by any definition. They just so happen to have a boring low margin retail business attached to it for legacy reasons.

If a case has been litigated in the past then you should get the same result if the facts are the same. It's the party with the case law on their side's responsibility to demonstrate past rulings that support them. If you spend

At least on X86 that truncation behavior is free. 32-bit EAX is just first 32-bits of RAX.

The legal philosophy is actually the opposite. Common Law is heavily based upon precedent and what the norms of the community are to “fill in the gaps”. The vast majority of what goes into a decision is this historical case law. The actual

I think the problem is more the software is single threaded. I’m sure YC can afford more than a single core machine.

Apple did their own thing and didn’t follow ATX. Most Macs had soft power switches (often on the keyboard) except for the very old ones with the integrated CRT.

These days we call it "SDR" ram for single data rate. But when it was current it was just called "SDRAM". So yes technically all are synchronous dynamic RAM. But the colloquial terms are SDRAM (or SDR), DDR, DDR2, DDR

I drive a normal FWD car during winter weather almost nobody will go out in. I drove it cross-country through the worst snowstorm the midwest experienced in the last 10 years where I couldn't see more than 10ft in front of me. All tha

SDRAM is cool but DDR3 is better! With LiteDRAM there is even an open source controller. LiteDRAM also works with SDRAM too.

I'm not seeing any information on people are supposed to physically move into their house or how deliveries will be managed. Cities have had roads long before cars were a thing, and they were never that pedestrian friendly.

Some boost libraries are very error prone and fall down easily. When it works it works great though. I’m happy the quality bar is so much higher for the stdlib. People looking for more bleeding edge stuff can get boost if needed.

I used to work at Walmart. It wasn't uncommon for someone to go in with a crowbar at an unused register and take something. It just doesn't make the news. That's why they are always emptied on a regular schedule.

The difference is whether the person is expected to manage the situation on their own. If I said that to a buddy of mine who I know works on his own car he would be upset. He imagines himself capable of working on cars and I just communic

The ATX standard was released in 1995 and it took a few years for them to become common. Are you sure it wasn't the late 90s. Time-frames get hazy this far back, its actually not improbable these Office '97 machines are ATX.

Part of the driver of IPC is how many layers of logic you can fit between each pipeline register. We’re not talking density we’re talking logic gate delay. Each process has different delay, setup, and hold times. On one process I might be a

You can’t simplify the logic because TSX transactions may abort for any reason and make no promises of forward progress. You must implement a fallback codepath. If you meant having an optimized codepath then that is doable. But given your w
