Too early to tell with regards to concentration, fatigue, or any measure directly related to productivity. We can get good classification of basic eyes-closed-alpha and are hoping our ML approach (RNNs + LSTM) and enough data will carry us

Mostly for fun, but also to 'optimize this experience', I'm building a Pomodoro android app that adjusts work duration based on brainwave data from an EEG headband: https://github.com/NeuroTechx/neurodo

If anyone's interested in neuroscience and machine learning, we're working on a fun little project to use EEG to track focus and optimize productivity here: https://github.com/neurotechx/neurodoro

Absolutely, though the fine-grained ness of that interaction won't be very good for a while. People are working right now on replicating some classic BCI paradigms with these consumer headsets (i.e. motor imagery and the P300 speller).

If you're interested in developing software for the Muse or other commercial EEG systems, check out the NeuroTechX community. We've got several open-source projects that we'd love to have some more contributors on. A lot of u

Hang in there, buddy. It sounds like you've got a lot of actually useful skills and I think you and your family will do fine in the long run. Even if you end up going back to a "safe but soulless" job.

Absolutely my experience as well. The grad students I've seen make it to professorship positions are all the ones who: 1. Sacrifice all social life outside science. 2. Play the schmoozing and reputation management game very well (Twitt

Instead of creating another level of abstraction that a dev has to learn, how about just creating smart IDE tools that help with Redux? E.g. noticing that you're creating another action and automatically creating a statement in the red

Don't WFH days feel the best when they're in the middle of the week? That way they break up the 'daily grind' feeling and give you the opportunity for deep work right in the middle of a weekly sprint.
