Beautiful typesetting isn't what people are looking for when they use Office. They are looking for a program that will read that god-awful .doc file that their coworker created. OpenOffice is great, but it fails way too often at this task.

If you read the Bruce Schneier article instead of the linked blog post you get this: EDITED TO ADD (4/12): Seems that the BBC article misstated the law. Companies have to retain information they already collect for a year after it is no lo

Of course it's not a human right. Neither are water or food, so his analogy is pointless. This is "you have a right to free speech; you don't have a right to a printing press" for the modern age. You still have the right to free speech, and

I left AT&T for T-Mobile years ago, because AT&T's customer service is terrible while T-Mobile's is excellent. I won't give AT&T my money ever again, but my choices keep narrowing. I doubt that I'm alone, which means that Verizo

At the risk of sounding like a broken record on this topic, I will state again that "Joy of Clojure" is a very good book. (I'm a Clojure newbie, so I can't judge its technical content, just that it is well written.) The Manning early-access

Hopefully this means that a new PDF is being released soon. The book is great, but I've been disappointed with Manning's early access program. The last update was released in August 2010. Then we jump to March 2011, where we still don't hav

$12/year is an annual pricing model. It's also a small enough number to be an impulse purchase. At $1000, people are going to stop and think longer about it, so it might not have the same effect. (I would still prefer $1000 to $999.99 tho
