Or we can restrict it to just the elderly and disabled, instead of letting every single incumbent hitch a ride. One of my favorite alternatives is to bring back regular tax reassessments, but owners can choose to cede excess property value

This does a great job of demonstrating how increasing acceleration decreases traffic. 2m/s/s is 5mph/s, and helps a lot: Cars in front get out of the way faster. Lazy acceleration, while more accurate to what I see on the roa

GL specs are generally quite accurate, now that there are real conformance tests for implementations. They can feel imprecise though, as they tend to leave a bunch more as undefined, whereas d3d tends to be more strict, leaving fewer choic

I can imagine a cube in my head and rotate it around and such. It's a sort of voluntary daydream. I'm not literally overriding vision, but rather I can hold a limited imaginary scene in my head.

Most brands do factory orders. It's not a niche thing. The problem these days is even the factory won't make MT in all configurations, and often stick is restricted to only the lower tier engine and/or trim levels.

It's still easy to get a factory order where available. I've done it twice now. Skip the dealer and have a middleman service deal with the bullshit. (I used Cartelligent once, and did it myself the other time, which was a mistake)

Coarse Pixel Shading is a cool smarter-not-harder approach for filling high-dpi displays on lower-horsepower iGPUs. The section on it shows comparisons, and it does look useful, though it requires integration by applications. Adaptive Sync,

The best time to get rid of passwords was years ago, but the second best time is now. The lack of at least opt-in public/private keys is disheartening.

I agree there should be fines. It's something like negligent endangerment, to me. As for sweeping it under the rug, anonymous whistleblower bounties?

This is great. It's so important to try to push for improvements externally, rather than just sucking it up and implementing onerous workarounds. It doesn't always work out, but this sounds like a good and reasonable outcome this

Unless they raise prices and accept lower volume. A contraction of profit seems inevitable, but I don't expect insolvency, at least not for the whole field.

Good. No one else plays this deceptive game, cherry-picking individual costs of ownership. You can advertise (but not promise!) expected savings, but pretending this reduces the price of the car is deceptive.

My respect for Linus does not extend to his opinions on programing languages. I haven't found any of Linus's objections to C++ compelling. I strongly believe that a C++ kernel developed with the same care as Linux would be strictl

That the author didn't understand how to write robust C++ by 2012 (after 5 years) without constraining themselves unnecessarily to C is not a compelling reason to prefer C over C++. "Doctor it hurts when I do this." Well stop
