If your only consumers are developers, then yes, it’s really straightforward. I made a small CMS at work that started to gain steam. 2 years of me using it and no issues, but then I turned it over to the marketing team and they crashed the

Why would you WiFi connect a disposable lightbulb when it makes far more sense to connect the switch?

The criticism wasn't wrong. Most people on AirBNB aren't using it for couch/extra room rental (because that market is really small). They failed at that and had to pivot to being a platform for vacation rental companies.

No, we build off of each other’s knowledge. We learn some things, simplify them, and then build on that knowledge. We didn’t go right from wires and signals to JavaScript and web browsers, it was incremental, where each generation built off

1000x this! I needed to buy golf balls for a Christmas gift. I went to 4 sports stores; “sorry we only sell hockey stuff”, “sorry that’s not in season right now”, “sorry we don’t sell golf stuff”, “umm let me check in the back... sorry not

It’s not just NIMBYism, but also down right selfishness. My parents are retired and live in a house that backs on to an elementary school. What the hell are retired childless couples doing living next to schools? I’m in the process of looki

It's the internet, this is the place where languages go to die. You can try to get people to follow grammar rules, but they'll probably just rotflmao ;).

Big companies have this thing called “segregation of duties” which protects the company from organized labour. You can organize all you want, but the job has been cut up in to so many pieces, it’s easy to replace whoever forms a union.

The problem is you are going to use the hints and guidance as an excuse to cover up your biases. Guy who looks like a close friend? Yeah I had to give him a hint, but that’s ok. Guy who’s ugly and speaks with a stutter? I had to give that g

This would explain the harsh reactions, but doesn’t explain the need to create rules for everything. The more I think about it, the more I think that the rules are just an excuse to give into an anger addiction.

I’m starting to think that a command economy is actually the default state. Democracy and free market only work when people have tons of money, like they did after WW2 (or when Rome and Greece were at the height of their conquests). With we

The lesson here is to do your job with passion. This man loves his job, otherwise he wouldn’t be posting and making videos about it. It’s the same in tech. If you don’t have passion, you’ll bounce around tech companies, never moving up, alw
