Has anyone on HN used AngelList? What was the outcome?

Really? I'd be curious why this is so epic. 3dogmedia (the company that was acquired) has less than 50 followers on Twitter. That doesn't seem very epic.

I am. I've begun development and have working prototypes for #1 & #2 of the 3 ideas. I'm looking for rockstar marketing/sales talent and rockstar graphic design talent. The three startups: 1) Automated UI testing (can't say more) 2) HTM

I agree. I've been "Lead Developer" on development teams of one - and I didn't give myself that title. That's what the corporation gave me and printed onto business cards. For me, I felt most uncomfortable when I first got hired as a "senio

An entrepreneur is someone who takes risks to start a company. That's the definition I've always used. If you assign more weight to the title than that, that's up to you, but I don't see anything wrong with someone calling themselves an ent

2k a day is well over half a million dollars a year. That's far from sad. Notch's earnings are exceptional. He is probably the only indie game developer (or one of a very small group) making $350K a day on his own.

No. ...assuming the startup is bootstrapping. Why? 1) Ugly designs are often very effective. 2) You can polish it later when you're making money. Your site might look amazing. Your site might look crappy. If no one knows about your site or

Cool idea, but how does it work against spambots? That's the whole point of CAPTCHA. It's not supposed to be a place to add marketing copy. It's supposed to ensure actual humans are using your service. This seems like it's going to be incre

Does this mean I have to buy into my own stock? Yes, but most people don't exercise their options until a liquidity event (company gets sold, goes public, etc). When this happens, you hope the shares are worth more than your option price.

This does nothing except give more free publicity to the Koran burners. They'll just find another company to host their site, which will have even more traffic now. I know we probably can't, but could we just ignore them, hope they get bore

Your generalization could be correct (as a male, I would not even try to generalize women), but I think more women don't apply simply because there are less women in tech. The fear of rejection keeps men on the sidelines too. There are just

You can do that in HTML5. You could use CSS3 with animated gifs/pngs --- or go straight to the canvas. Either way would get it done. I'd vote for using canvas. I'll leave it to someone else to implement. I've got real applications to build

In this case, deliverability is MailChimp's job...not ReturnPath's. MailChimp says so on their site. They have feedback loops with ISPs to show you opens, bounces, spam complains etc. The "Inbox Inspector" add-on shows screenshots of what y

I have an EVO. I read tech books on it with Kindle for Android. If my screen were any smaller, the code samples (which are images and don't scale like the text) would be too small to read. So for me, screen size is a feature. It opens up po

The title should be changed to read "Video chat for Android in 30 lines of XML." It's all Flex configuration. I don't see any Android code at all. That's kind of what I was excited to see, but there are no algorithms to look at whatsoever.
