I don't think I am trying to (or capable of) forcing you to hang out with anyone. But I am trying to logically convince you that association and approval are orthogonal. I also don't think that wishing someone dead should be illeg

If someone is stupid enough to fall for the lackluster logic of Neo-Nazis then I see that as a problem with our public education, not with the moderation policy of a website. Sure, enforcing "correct" speech at all times could pot

I don't think I have ever been to /b/, and it could very well be a valid claim that most /b/ frequenters are assholes. I'm glad to see you acknowledge that there are exceptions to every rule. My comment is mean

But the mere association itself does not mean you agree with that kind of content. As an example, would you vilify a scientist studying extremism because he regularly reads Neo-Nazi forums for his research? There are many reasons to read so

I'm pretty sure that even an actual Nazi would realize that they do not have the option to just straight up murder you right then and there at the restaurant table. A person also does not need to be uncontrollably angry at <minority

If millions of people start getting fake kidnapping calls every day, then I'm sure we will stop falling for it quite soon. There's a limit to how many days in a row you will keep sending money to every random AI-empowered guy call

This is just what GP called "modern street smarts". People won't keep getting fooled like this for long. Just like people had to learn to stop trusting everything they heard on TV, and learn to stop trusting every pop-up on e

I think the main point is that the Bible can have some good messages. Whether or not the Christians were the inventors of those messages does not change that fact.

Religion can be rebelled against for reasons that are not childish. Also, I'm sure there are even many Christians that would specifically not want you to swear on a Bible if you are not a believer, because that would be dishonest.

Why is his point juvenile? I enjoyed the comparison. Going FOSS only/going vegan can be challenging and limiting, but is arguably the most ethical choice. In the abstract, I see many similarities between the FSF/Codeberg philosoph

Oh yes I forgot they mentioned that 10% thing, and yes it does make me cringe a bit too. I remember thinking when I was 12 that it sounded quite cool, though. Anyways, a huge chunk of Sci-Fi stories (good ones too) have these little kernels

The details aren't really fleshed out scientifically, I will certainly grant you that. However, I think just the very concept of a drug/medicine/some sort of thing that can make you very smart is very relevant to real life. W

I think Tron: Legacy , Pacific Rim , and Alita: Battle Angel should all be great for any 12-year-old. High-concept (12-year-old me loved the "what if?" question), lots of action, and not too adult. Great suggestions. I think s

Reminds me of the Fremen people in Dune by Frank Herbert. In the book, a man is challenged to a duel. When he wins the duel, he gains the wife, property, and children of the one that he killed. In the book, the legality of this form of duel
