Read the article again. The issue isn't really about the price for wifi, it's that hotels are blocking the spectrum so you can't set up your own wifi or tether (which is not allowed by the FCC).

What's recommended for an experienced "back-end" developer who wants to dabble in front end and web development, but never spent much time in it? It seems like there are a million options for web stack components, and a lot o

A model/rc controlled helicopter that close to an airliner is very serious, at best causing distraction to the flight crew in a critical phase of flight, at worst causing a collision with a several kg object with potentially high veloc

Agreed, it doesn't sit well, and we burn a lot of gas in sheer quantity as well (~9 gallons/hr in a typical 172). A big part of the problem is regulation and the certification process. Of course there is a good case for heavy reg

Unfortunately, at least with the first point, this is true for a lot of people, and governments. This "they're not doing it, so why should I?" is a common justification, and is expressed in goverments who are pressured into

I have one of the old Lenovo X1 Carbons from when they first came out. It's great, I had been considering a MacBook Air, but I liked the thin bezel on the X1, a little more screen resolution, and Linux-ability (was also a couple hundr

To interviewers who have given this problem: how do candidates typically perform? I would expect a lot of people to come up with some variant of an O(n^2) solution on the spot, but probably not get much further without some help, in an int

When I heard about Flytenow, as I private pilot I could not believe they were attempting to set up a ride share market with private pilots. It is so blatantly condradictory to the spirit of the law and the common understanding of the rul

While it's certainly off-topic, it might be better to heavily penalize this kind of current-event/disaster news such that it can only rarely float to the top (and I'm not trying to fetishize it here), instead of getting flagg

In the video Sprey critisizes the F-15, which is not unsurprising considering the history of him going off and designing the F-16. But isn't the F-15 regarded as a great aircraft? It costs nearly double, but has a good record and cap

AC-130 is significantly more of a sitting duck to infantry-deployable surface to air missiles. They have to be fairly low and fly in slow circles with the broadside facing the target. It would be hard to imagine a better missile target.
