Point of order, Kodak didn't exactly file for what people traditionally associate with 'bankruptcy'. Chapter 11 is an entirely different beast. In the future, it's best to mention that.

note also the specs of each of those tests; the windows tests have i5/i7 chips with at least 4gb of ram. The Lion test is a dual core with 2gb. That's not a fair test, so the whole table is bogus.

Hey, there's MVP, and then there's buggy as hell. Yours falls into the latter. I've loaded 'my' user profile now a half dozen refreshes, and I only saw myself once. It'd be great if you went back and had a good look at your code, and how yo

Personally, I have found that Instapaper 4.0 (I assume this is what you meant when you referred to 3.0) has regressed. Archiving read stories, for example, used to be one click - now it's 2 or 3. Automatic/background downloading fails somet

Doesn't seem incredibly surprising; Marco isn't really innovating effectively, and it's time to see the space build via competition.

Your perception is wrong. Medicine (and, especially the implementation of it) is (in many areas) changing as much as software engineering. There is, however, stronger certification around medicine: once you have a medical license, it's pret

hate to do this, but... "this". CS is one of the very few industries i've ever been been around which engages in the "i'm better than you" pissing contest, EVERY SINGLE DAY, and yet asks itself why everyone looks the same. I really do hope

I agree. But i'd like to see several magnitudes more investment in mass transit and mass transit systems before mandatory driverless cars. I think we can achieve much more if we put our minds to solving that problem (mass trans) first.

In the uk at least, there was a large amount of misinformation and bad knowledge about the real effects, what happens at one drink/two drinks, etc. It's also a case of- it's so horrific, that unless it happens to affect you directly, you te

I don't have any data to back it up, but I do remember seeing statistics which showed that, after the successful PSA campaigns in the 90s, the UK had to start seriously considering the effect of the road quality as contributory to accidents

Whilst I don't have stats on hand, it's FAR more likely in your state for a plea bargain than in the UK, since that's the way each legal system is structured. So, in the UK, you can pretty much guarantee you're going to be in trouble. In th

Oh. and one more point. There was an attempt to broadcast a drink driving psa in the US, which was filmed in the style of a UK drink-drive campaign advert. It was banned. No network was willing to show it, and went so far as to get the FCC

I live in New York, where the average driving skill is one of the poorest i've ever had to be around in the western world. I know that states are 'cracking down'. But till you see some of the PSAs that the UK and European countries have iss

Why? Plenty of people are able to drive a vehicle, and drive it well. It's the many who aren't, or choose to ignore the rules who are causing danger. The "every vehicle should be automated" line is lowest common denominator FUD. How about w

I see your point but you're nitpicking. MySQL is also the name for the database product, and so it's easy to read this and think that PHP are getting out of the business supporting MySQL.

@mildweed: the title here is total clickbait. They aren't deprecating anything right now, it's not MySQL but ext/mysql (one of 3 possible mysql libs). please remember in the future to do that better.

car ownership needn't be a huge expense that locks you in. I'm leasing one with my wife and frankly, for the $250 a month I get to take day trips out of nyc every weekend, which frankly is one of the few ways I've found to truly survive cit

This might be worth experimenting with. One of the problems of such communities is the echo chamber nature of hearing the same voices. I'd be interested to see what happens if you made it so that the more karma points you had, the harder it
