Driving traffic is so very different from building software, because you can do everything right, follow all best practices and rules, build an awesome campaign, and still fail because your competitors are doing it 10% better. In some ways,

And there is the distinction. Spending large amounts of their own money to get massive traffic is EXACTLY what good marketers do. They can get the exposure a company like Facebook gives developers. A great marketer can build something in a

Unfortunately, "user acquisition hackers" are basically priceless. That's good to know, and the hundreds of startup people emailing me asking for advice on getting traffic seem to confirm the incredible demand. I'm still wondering why mor

This seems like a good deal and a great startup, but I'm not sure it's in the spirit of past Offer HN posts. Then again, maybe after its birth in hype and exuberance, this is what Offer HN has become.

It's all about how good they are at marketing and sales. I can't speak for everyone but LivingSocial is very good at optimizing their landing pages, builds great PPC campaigns and has a very strong affiliate program.

There was a post here a while back by someone who did the same thing with the Stackoverflow data dump. I think he was able to recover about 10% of users' emails from a vastly larger search space. Moral of the story: simply hashing emails is

As I've heard it defined, extroverts gain energy from social interactions, introverts are fatigued by them. If, like me, after a few hours of small talk you feel exhausted and want to sit in front of a screen alone, you're probably an intro

What I learned is that, if you're an educated individual living in a first world country, the consequences of failure are _almost always_ minor. Act accordingly.

If you're trolling this post with spectacularly bad advice about bad advice, well done. If you truly believe that, you have a very cynical worldview. I am quite introverted but whenever I force myself to go to a social event where I don't k
