"If we kill all of our populace, we wont care if the world warms" isn't a very compelling argument. What do you think destroying the economy does?

Collaboration is the killer feature of the docs ecosystem. You will never convince them to break it for X reason.

They’re probably a math teacher and want them to learn about punch cards before introducing complex concepts like a floppy disk.

It doesn’t take 3 months to do this even at wholly internal faang environments except in some special cases. Most of what people are talking about can be learned in days because they’re 90% the same as other products. Sometimes it's h

You aren't unique, you're just really bad at training and documentation.

This just shows how dumb it is to require specific knowledge of products of clearly qualified people.

so you want to self host via the cloud? ... why not just use the cloud at that point and skip having to roll your own everything?

Wait, do you think people / corporations should be free, or do you think corporations should be forced to carry messages they don't support?

Sorry, I support the Captain America approach to nazis. You punch them, not defend their right to call for others loss of rights / abuse. If one of the golden age characters can be patriotic about limits of free speech, I think you can

They already do this. The difference here is the perspective employees can now see the data too, not just the employeers.

How dare those projects be forced to checks notes accommodate disabled people. Sometimes the comments on this site are just insufferable.

If you don't see the need for the ability to program in a cloud infra job, you aren't building them very big at all.

Its clear y'all have no idea how much it costs to connect that amount of bandwidth everywhere around the planet. It's not just the edge costs that are huge, just carrying that bandwidth around internally and between devices is a m

I meant specifically protobuffers in that case, but sure, that works.

Part of it is that "large systems" are almost all combinations of small systems with proto boundaries, so it's not much of an actual risk unless you're making giant monolith code.

If you've seen the graphs, you'd understand why in is free and out costs money. Because it's almost all out already. It's also not nearly as free as you think to run massive clouds.

The more topics you are knowledgeable about on HN, the more glaring the mass lack of competence the comments generally have except for topics like algorithms. Especially on anything bordering economics, medicine, and some others. It's

Most of them just seem wildly uninformed, and a lot of really strange libertarian takes that make little sense.

So don't have 40 different keys that prove they're you that you didn't password protect and keep track of? This straw man is close to sentience at this point.

Again you are fundamentally misunderstanding how this works. The key proves who you are. You don’t need 40 different ones. Just at least one.

This is a fundamental misunderstanding of how this security model works. You don't have to throw away anything, it just means you reinit that specific key. Have multiple of them for redundancy, trust them all at your central auth point

in a safe at the bottom of the ocean? who cares, put an intermediate signer in a cloud somewhere that requires 2FA with multiple valid tokens, and everything is now much more secure and not tied to your specific key.

No, this is what ssh certs are for. You can use any key you want as long as you get a CA that everything trusts to sign it.
