It didn't become a major regret really until the antitrust treated android as a competitive space and iphone separate. That decision led to a lot of wtf and tactics changing. Because the platform had been made open it was then an issue

It is a competitive market, all the market is selling to the most competitive bid price. When there are massive costs to entry, then this is what happens on a huge demand surge that can pay 10x more than everyone else.

Same, my desktop is a top end full of ram beast that I thought I overpaid for because motherboards had gone up. Bought everything before the surge. Past me was damn lucky. Wish I had bought some stock tho.

This is how they make their money. They put out underpowered crap and constantly churn them so you have to pay them regularly. If something isn't profitable to maintain it just goes EoL.
