I treat HN like nicotine patches. It's still addictive but much better than the alternatives. I came across HN just because the HN bot on Twitter had the most interesting links in my feed.

Even if you just buy a pizza base and then add the toppings yourself you end up with a better pizza than take out. I'd rather experiment with the toppings rather than the pizza dough making. This works even better with my 4yo daughter.

IBM have been what seems like this bureaucratic monstrosity ever since the started. But that was back in the 60s. I appreciate their perseverance if nothing else. If you look at the fate of companies like Nokia, IBM has some how managed to

Kudos to Chocolatey on Windows, they immediately updated their Git package [0] to v2.14.1, so a simple `choco upgrade -y git` gets me up to date. If only life on Windows had always been this hassle free. [0]: https://chocolatey.o

I kind of hope not. As bgarbiak points out [0], there's other things that we start talking about once the pollution of fossil fuels is out the way. Also once people have electric cars the incentive to have solar panels on your roof bec

My main point was the loose coupling and getting off the hook from fossil fuels. I shouldn't have made the point about city pollution as it just diluted the main point. Nevertheless, the brake discs won't be any worse in electric

ST3 is awesome, I switched from that to Vim. But not because I was unhappy with ST3, just because the only way to learn Vim is to dive in and use only Vim. I too didn't notice any latency in ST3 and I've spent a lot of time trying
