This is the biggest concern I've with Cursor. In fact, even though I use Cursor often, I won't use it on any repository with secrets or personal information. (Based on this news, I'm happy I went that route.) If the Cursor te

I'm curious to hear well-informed reasons from this crowd for why we can trust Tailscale given the non-self-hosted part of the architecture? Does it come down to Tailnet locks [1], not worrying that Tailscale will be compromised, not w

It's not completely clear to me why the solution to restaurant reservation squatting is imposing a minimum dinner order while people are there. My (hot) take is that these restaurants want to squeeze their customers more and are using

I saw this coming and moved to Kobo recently. I haven't regretted the move once.

I've tried many times to get into macOS/iOS programming, and Xcode is always the thing that has stopped me. It's a shame, because I really would like to build native apps...

Do you happen to remember what the handful of issues were? In particular, I’m wondering how much a self hoster can expect to have this sort of downtime because of breaking changes to the mail server application(s) vs. misc. server outages (

I've been trying Zed today and am thoroughly impressed. Everything feels incredibly well considered, even for edge cases. A niche example I tried on a whim that just worked: You can multi-select lines (say, the start of every other lin

I wonder if there are any projects that facilitate that? Like Pi-Hole but with obfuscation baked in.

That’s fair, but many people (myself included) don’t need those.

It's funny because this really shouldn't be required (and isn't with 1Password standalone). But yes, I will eventually move over to BitWarden.

I hear what you're saying, but I'm not planning to ever move to a subscription model for storing my passwords.

Updated to clarify. My expectation is that 1Password 7 won’t work on Sonoma. In my experience, AgileBits requires an upgrade for new versions of macOS. IIUC, 1Password 7 is also the last version that you can buy outright rather than paying

Update: simscitizen has confirmed below that 1Password 7 still works in Sonoma. This will be the first macOS upgrade I won’t be doing for a while. I’d like to try it out, but I need to figure out how to migrate off of 1Password 7 (standalon

I started building my MP3 music collection again recently and have been very happy with the decision. Not only do I have a collection of music that will be there forever, but I can play it on any device I want (and with any software), and I

I’m curious about the downvote. Is this not a legitimate question? The article says they are only able to do this now through AI, and I don’t understand why.

I ran into this today. Not only is Chase forcing me to opt into a 125 page agreement [0] in order to log in to my account—say, to pay my bill or check my balance—but that agreement has a new arbitration clause. The arbitration clause says y

I'm very interested in the topic but skeptical of sweeping claims like this. What is the most definitive evidence (actual data plus analysis by economists) that you can point me to that proves this is true?

I tried iCloud Drive and didn't mind it. I ended up moving to Sync, though, because 1) it's end-to-end encrypted and 2) I can sync any directory, not just subdirectories of iCloud Drive.

The FTC won't necessarily let you know when they take action, but my understanding is that with enough complaints, they will issue a fine. (So it's good to spread the word about this.) I've seen the issue you mention with Del
