I remember visiting the BuzzFeed office back in '13 and hearing about how the BuzzFeed-y entertainment stuff was just a means to fund the actual hard hitting journalism. "Funny" how it panned out.

My personal* experience is that in areas of the US where real estate is highly valued, there's a low level resentment of anybody existing without having an intent to spend money. Parks are tolerated, but the expectation is that they&#x

I know you're being inflammatory to make a point, but calling this "fascistic" is really out of line and dilutes the concept.

I bought a VW ID.4. I love it, and in my area I'm starting to see as many Ioniq 5's as I do Teslas.

This is anecdotal, but most New Yorkers I know care , there's just not much they can do . The NYPD is effectively a military force and they have de facto veto power over the city government.

Any VW-approved diagnostic tool can recode the battery. Allegedly (I haven't personally had need to try it yet) the ODBEleven ( https://obdeleven.com/en/ ) can do so. It IS incredibly silly that you need a specializ

I got to play with an HP Veer circa 2011, a phone the size of a credit card, specifically to try out the keyboard (specifically, I remember visiting this website). It was a far better typing experience than the iPhone SE ever was. Tactile f

Not affiliated with either project: PyPy is a completely separate Python implementation without perfect ecosystem compatibility. Pyston is a small fork of CPython that replaces/adds on a couple of areas. They're very different pro

I adore Pyston. It was literally a 2x speedup on my codebase, which as a free drop-in win, is pretty close to magic.

I think "service" is the key word here: I have an RX 580, and while it's kind of an incredible card in its longevity, it's really creaky at 1440p even with older games. Performance per watt has really come a long way sin

I've seen faked brand emails hit my Gmail inbox with (presumably malicious) unsubscribe links, and I've definitely seen sites "forget" that I've unsubscribed. It's a bit of a tragedy of the commons, but I think

I think a majority of people do care, but there's not really a way for them to express that in the market. You can't just buy the more expensive product and trust that it's going to be more ethically produced. It's a soc

For what it's worth, Intel & Netflix's AV1 encoder SVT-AV1 is extremely fast -- it changed my mind about what encoder rates are possible with AV1, to the point that I'm very happy with realtime CPU encoding.

So for what it's worth, in 2016 the IIHS started looking closely at headlights including glare to oncoming traffic. Some automakers took this to heart and have since eliminated the glare that was then-rampant.
