How would you run this on a mobile device? Since it's written in Python, you'd have to run it with something like Kivy.

I'm not a lawyer, and I'm not suggesting that I am, but you may want to ask about the impact of not signing the non-compete as signing it will limit your future employment opportunities. You may also want to talk to a lawyer in yo

What happens if you refuse to sign it? Is it: "sign or be fired?". Also if you are in a financial position of strength, it may be advantageous and savvy to fight it by not signing. This way you may be able to get the terms modifie

That's not an NDA. That's a non-compete. What state are you in? Some states like California ban noncompetes (Sec. 16600 of the business and professions code). Others allow them. The reason companies ask you to sign a non-compete i

You are correct. If the transport is secure, then the protocol doesn't matter. I just think that a central controller model could use a protocol which is more suited to keeping the code on the mobile device as simple as possible. If yo

For my SIP home phone line, I use Asterisk with an audio captcha to filter out most political calls, I enable the captch a couple of weeks before the election, and then disable it after the election. It works well.

Death to rent-seeking business models which prey on captive audiences. Go make money the old fashioned way: provide a service which people will gladly pay for.

MQTT is great on an internal LAN for controlling small devices based on say the ESP8266, but I wouldn't trust it over the public Internet unless it is VPN'd. What's needed is a new protocol you can use between your phone or t

For techies, Asterisk is your friend. During voting season, I enable a 3 digit voice captcha script so that all callers have to listen and then enter a 3 digit code to get my phone to ring. It's very effective at cutting out robocalls.

You may be correct on case law, but just the threat of a lawsuit can coerce a poorly financed ex-employee into doing something against their wishes to save on having to hire a lawyer. This coercion is what needs to be discouraged.
