Ah yes, the flat tax. The thing talked about on AM conservative talk radio all the time. Flat taxes like sales taxes are regressive and hurt the poor. Take for example Mississippi which has sales taxes on food. Disgusting.

Governor Brown vetoed AB1017. This would have prohibited employers from asking for salary history. It would have been interesting to see the reaction of employers if this has been signed by the governor.

With the exception of sports and news, linear TV is dead. It doesn't matter if it comes from the cable company or an antenna. Once users get a taste of watching things on their schedule, they don't want to adhere to the broadcaste

I suspect rampant age discrimination in the US keeps a lot of the 50+ crowd from working. Companies prefer younger employees who don't know that they are being taken advantage of, and that don't have a high health insurance cost.

I'm not familiar with continental Europe's wiring practices, but here in the states, we use 15A and 20A breakers. The maximum number of outlets per circuit depends on what the circuit is servicing. The electrical code has gotten s

Any twin blade plug made in China will probably have pins of the same size. The reason is North America is the only one using the twin blade polarized plugs, all bets are off in the rest of the world. Also, the pins may be the same size so

Newer style NEMA 5-15 plugs are polarized. The neutral pin is larger than the live pin. You must have some very old 2 pin plugs, or you got hold of a plug made in China. The Chinese plugs have pins of the same size and are even more dangero

The only way out is to have a large cash cushion, investments, and passive income. Anyone having to depend a recurring paycheck in a first world country for food and shelter in the future is going to be worse off in the future. Why? Because

This is due to relentless cost-cutting by manufacturers supplying sockets to the large home improvement stores. When you can buy duplex receptacles for less than $1, this is what you get. If you invest in a Hubbell, Eagle, or other reputab

That fuse is absolutely required. Plugs are daisy-chained in a loop with a 32A breaker (The so-called "ring-main"). Removing the fuse will cause lead burn up if there's a short circuit in the device. If you look at the leads

Cost cutting by laying off employees only goes so far. In the case of HP (Which was once a great company) the rot extends all the way to the top. It's going to take more than just layoffs to fix HP. I predict that there will be more la

Privatization isn't bad provided that key corporations are answerable to more than just profit alone. This is the key aspect of a benefit corporation. A lot of what is wrong with large corporations is that they don't place any pr
