No, the web server (one tool) would instantiate another tool (e.g. python/ruby/arc parser) which renders the HTML page pipes it back to the server which sends it to you. You fill out the form, press submit, the web server passes pipes those

I like Debian and run it on my servers, but it isn't really for desktop users that want to run the latest and greatest software. Now, Linux Mint is a viable alternative to Ubuntu users who prefer Gnome 2: http://www.linuxmint.com/

Well, if you ignore it and they get a default judgement against you (i.e. they find that you are infringing) then they can do lots of things to make sure you pay up. IANAL so you would want to talk to one if this happens.

I like how you just ignored every other argument the OP mentioned just to make your snarky comment.

Your Palm in the 90's had a 16 Mhz processor and 1 MB of memory. An iPhone has a 1 Ghz processor and 32 GB of memory. If that's not "much different" you have a strange understanding of scale. And that was only 15 years ago, not 50.

"Personally, I'm totally happy supporting the latest version of each of the five browsers." Yeah, so would we all. That's not really an argument.

Actually, only a dishonest economist would say, "they can tell you what the economy will do." NO ONE knows what the economy will do. People make educated guesses, some better than others, but for every economist that tells you one thing

For the most part I agree with you. I will say that I have met those in QA over the years that may or may not have been good developers, but were phenomenal testers and truly enjoyed their work. They loved being able to break things (seriou

The gold rush is over (thankfully). If you create something of value (a very subjective word) and are able to get visibility, you can be profitable.

You can do that for long rifles in MN as well (although I think you forgot the NICS check required for all gun purchases regardless of state). It's just hand guns and "black" rifles that require the permit. VA obviously has a more enlighte

The article says "license to buy" not "license to own." I know that in Minnesota you need a Permit to Purchase from your local PD or a Permit to Carry from your local Sheriff in order to purchase an AR-15 (or a handgun).

The lower receiver doesn't determine if it is automatic or semi-automatic. That's the upper receiver. And automatic weapons are regulated in the U.S., they are not prohibited (everywhere, anyway). If you go through the appropriate paperwo

I'm pretty sure the gov't would look at printing the receiver as precisely the same as milling one on a CNC machine. Transferring it is going to be treated the same as any other firearm transfer in the U.S. as well.

Much like using a high-quality printer to counterfeit money, it's not the technology that makes it illegal, it's the act.

The law is pretty clear cut in the U.S. about gun manufacturing. If you want to build the lower receiver of an AR-15, go ahead, but if you plan on selling it you need either a Type 7 or Type 10 Federal Firearms License. The rest of the AR-

There is no answer for a general "some country," each country has its own laws. In the US, you need to meet with the State Department (possibly through an embassy) which takes care of the legal aspects of renouncing your citizenship. The se

I hardly think requiring a Word document is the same as "treating you like a temp from ManPower". Maybe ease up on the hyperbole a bit. We are talking about a file format.

It's easy to confuse a company with their HR department. Many well known companies that have good reputations in the developer community would only take Word docs.

My guess is that their recruiting software doesn't handle PDFs correctly. I recently went through a job search and was dumbfounded by the number of places that would only take a Word document.

Now that is the core issue here. Not that there is something wrong with "the system" or that law is "too complicated," but that this law is unjust.

An honest person can attempt to do that, and they are called "lawyers." Again, it is way too easy to run afoul of the U.S. Code. I get that. But, even if that wasn't true, it would still not be advisable to speak to law enforcement offi
