I don't have exact measurements. But for some reference, here's a drone shot from the location. I'm the lone guy standing above the SAR team. https://www.hugi.io/img/crater.jpg

When I got back from the hike I heard on the radio that this location was, ahem, not recommended. It was closed off yesterday and a short while later the crater walls collapsed in that direction. https://youtu.be/eeAf1kZ7_ZE

I didn't know they did that, thanks for the notification! Moved some of the videos to a YouTube playlist and updated the post.

I went for a hike there on Saturday night, here are a few of the shots I got: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeFBYeKa30w&list=PLoqbqfn2ku... Unfortunately, photos and movies don't capture the atmosphere and sheer

There was a lot of discussion about this and they eventually settled on the hyphen. Consider this our introduction to hyphenated keywords and expect to see a lot more of them in the future.

I find this attitude a bit misguided. There's never been as much availability in open computing as there is today. These are good times. A Raspberry pi running linux is miles and planets above what I could have imagined when I was a ki

Got my headphones from my dad in the late 90s, h probably bought them in the 80s. Recently stopped using them, not because they didn't work but because I wanted a wireless pair.

There are people that "trust" stocks? To me it's always been a somewhat stupid casino game for the rich to rig.

I hear they found a team in the basement. It's a G5 running Copland. CyberDog is replacing Safari and the new AppleWorks 7 transparently imports documents from iWork.

I'd love to be able to see a table/grid listing my installed applications along with the permissions they've been granted.

Yeah, know what you mean. It's a real hellscape up here in Iceland with all these unions and livable wages. We aspire to become a better and more profitable American style system.

Note that they also don't just sell "ads", they sell psychological manipulation. Yes, product ad targeting is one type of manipulation but where the real danger lies is when they target us with ideology. It's an expresse

What utter nonsense. Facebook and Twitter will not turn themselves into protocols unless explicitly forced to do so by authorities. It's in their interest to be monopolies.

The EU as a whole is much more consistent than individual countries, in fact, standardization is one of it's biggest strengths. I used to work for the national vehicle registry in my country. European vehicles were easily registered us

I am very skeptical that Facebook has ever acted in their users best interest. The EU privacy laws and the GDPR are a clearly beneficial law to citizens, protecting them against hostile companies.

What utter nonsense. Different ARM chips aren't "somewhat compatible" anymore than Intel/AMD x86 chips. It's a standard instruction set. And even if we'd get different instruction sets, we have much better tool

"Free speech doesn't apply to the workplace"? What a fascist view. We're supposed to shut up and happily serve our corporate overlords for the majority of our waking lifes?

This is the exact reason why I absolutely hate flat styled UIs. I find it difficult to see what the different types of elements are, what they do, what their state is, wether they're actual elements to begin with… It's a step back

It’s not bad, it’s inevitable and it’s nice we have some light shed on it. Stupid people will no doubt try to “ban deepfakes”, but we are going to have to learn to live with them.
