I write crap on my hands. If it's real important I email myself a reminder. It doesn't looks cool at parties and coffee shops... but my laundry gets done and I usually remember my wife's birthday. I wish I could placebo mysel

Customer service is a joke. I posted this on HN about a year ago. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9005200 They turned me from being an advocate for their service to never wanting to use their service again. I travel

Cool... To be clear I didn't mean to imply that would happen. I was more interested in the psychology of it. And I thought the data would be fun to look at. But thanks!

I think we're making too big of an issue of this. The trial has already taken place and the boy was found to not float... so it turns out he must be guilty. God forbid that an officer drops his walkie talkie and discovers that IT TOO

This breaks my heart. This kid should be running tutorials after school to show other kids how to work with electronics, not interrogated by police and bullied by his teachers. This is so disappointing.

I'd like to see stats of first time URLs pre and post greenification. I suspect we may see more green links on front page than prior... just a hunch.

Very cool DIY project. Without details of price or advantage over existing tech I don't see it as a fundable/kickstartable effort... but good luck.

Fair enough. Both of those interpretations are a very different message from "Look at the nice thing we did for you"... which was my point.

In the previous thread on the announcement I expressed some concerns ( https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10165919 ). An employee responded: "I see this is turning into a conspiracy theory ) Fortunately, there's

"Fortunately, there's a little thing called competition that prevents raising rates at will without facing the consequences, and JetBrains is no exception: we're no monopoly." Should add this to the press release. Would

You're right. Probably not fair response. But I reject the idea that getting more of something I don't want makes this any more palatable.

I think you are being a little naive about this. I am sure (much like the cable company does with "introductory" rates) that JetBrains was careful to set an initial price point that makes this a competitive offer. The problem (as

I am struggling to see how this benefits the consumer. I read that whole release wondering if they actually believed that this was some sort of reaction to consumer demand or if they just think people are incredibly ignorant. No thanks. Sur

That's fair. Perhaps I am more alarmed by the assertion of the author that they had given 100+ days notice... it came off like they talking about the patch and not the original issue.

I enjoyed this as well... Struggling to find applications off the top of my head but it's a nice implementation. Some use cases on the site would be a nice addition.

This is super awesome. About 5 years ago I built my own SSHable/Camera cat treat dispenser. We'd dump food on my cats head from work and laugh... it wasn't nearly as kind to the cat as this is.

By saying this you are basically saying there was no reasonable alternative method of exposing this. I am unwilling to say that. This argument that somehow the ends justify the means when there was a clearly more safe means has to stop. I

Actually home invasion is an "exploit" of the home security (i.e. locked doors / windows). Just because they do it from behind a screen doesn't make it a less culpable crime. Computers don't insulate you from ethic
