I wish I knew how to program then like I do now. So much time wasted playing games instead of making things and being creative. Don't get me wrong, some games time was an absolute must, but maybe not 100% computer time as games time.

Why would you trust people in your "band"? Won't you worry they'll knock you off in the night so there's one fewer person to share with?

There are many unselfish individuals in this world who work to fix things, but as a group, and a group of countries, we are so selfish that the problem of global warming will never be stopped. Nor the many other gigantic crises that face th

Becoming a doomsday prepper edges further away from "flat out crazy" with every day of weird, weird weather. Our climate has been extremely stable for a long time and I'm not expert but it is my understanding that chaotic sys

Perhaps a week, perhaps never. There really is no answer to this except that the more tries you make, the higher your chances one of them might have some people interested in it.

Off topic but it would be nice is sci fi could be made in which not every scene had to be the most amazing, innovative, creative, eye popping visual you've ever seen. Story might become the star then.

I'm a huge sci fi fan (anyone on HN who is not?) and gave Foundation a go, and found it to have flashes of brilliance but overall to be lifeless and frankly pretty boring. It's hard to describe but the stories seemed to be not mor

Agreed. Toxicity is such a broad range of behaviours that really a fuller story needs to accompany the posted topic.

This is the outcome of lack of competition. Also, Apple is not enthused about anything that might limit the ways in which a device is used. The whole point is that everything they do is focused on finding more and infinite ways to make a d

Look, here is my question: how is it that startups make such great websites? I try to make a website for my products, and they always look crap, even if I start with a template from themeforest, or use a single page site builder. Is it nec

The Context API is of most interest for me. I love Redux but I find myself using it less than I want to because so much stuff has to be put in place any time I want to store some stuff.
