I feel like the goals are framed incorrectly relative to the context. What's most important is not that B is above C, and A is above B, but that C is on the bottom. If framed that way, you can work backwards from the base case.

I do buy the golden rule as the only unarguably reasonable philosophical principle (I hold it pretty highly as an essential combination of rationality and empathy), I'm just arguing for the sake of it. The reason I consider humans the

This is the crux of the issue. What makes one moral framework "virtuous" and one not? It could be considered virtuous to ensure the dominance of the most competitive species (us in this case). Even if one, for the most part, cares

Is executable size not a good reason? Also, I don't know how you think there's a noticeable difference of readability between minified asm.js and textual wasm for the average person. It might be more difficult for a programmer to

Yeah, if we want latency added to literally every action... I understand that what you're saying is a possibility, but I sure hope it doesn't come to pass.

I'm generally on top of my idiom game, but I didn't know about this one. Thanks for pointing it out, if nothing else for satisfying a curiosity I didn't know I had.

I've been 100% on board with this kind of thing. Help people who lack a sense of purpose to contribute towards maintaining the things that make their lives better. Infrastructure is exactly the kind of area that needs bodies thrown at

I'm with you on that, and it's the reason at my job we aren't bending over backwards for compatibility. We don't support IE. It's not _really_ a problem, but it could lose you users. How many, I don't know. Whe

I'm pretty sure that attack you describe is mentioned in literature as essentially undefeatable. I really wish I could remember exactly what the name of it was; the gist is, there has to be a first compiler somewhere. If at any point i

Finally got around to reading that paper after seeing your comment. What a great piece! The logic was clearly laid out and simple to follow. I'll have to read through the proof in the appendix later.
