Sorry if I have preconceived notions, but I don't imagine anyone running any risk of prosecution for pirating foreign movies in China?

Go south to Berlin for a year. Move into a room in a flatshare in the east, go to meetups and you'll find someone who wants to start something with you. Your money will last long there, but your boredom will not. // skål och

Nothing overrated about it. Pure functions lack state. Without state, no state bugs. State bugs make up a great share of bugs in this world. Thus your program written in a functional language lacks those bugs. Also just nice to have a = fun

A very happy way to live as a Javascript coder is to avoid the `this` keyword, in my experience. You really don't need it. Instead write this function as (x, y) => Math.sqrt(x*x + y*y) That can never have any state bugs, be

Sadly haven't, because I have not had a reason to need it. Working with Clojure mostly. I like how Typed Racket "carries" the types with it when code from it is imported into other languages (like untyped Racket) via contract

It is. Sadly the standard library isn't, but there are great libs. Programming Javascript with lodash/fp or Ramda is great fun, and in some places I prefer it over Clojure.

If anyone is reading this thread I'd be very curious to know why a guide on how to run Bitcoin over Tor is downvoted on a website with "Hacker" in it's name.

I theorize it's because math as we know it was written down on paper and blackboards. Those mediums don't have auto-complete, like any good code editor does. I wish math notation would be replaced by s-expressions - easy to type a

It's great, but there are better alternatives. Ramda[0] is great, auto-curries everything and has an api similar to Clojures, which is really great. Lodash[1] is a fork of Underscore, with some OOP-isms replaced for FP-isms, which I an

I understand why, and once upon a time I was the guy who would commit code where I replaced jQuery and underscore (at the time) calls with native calls. It works, and is totally fine. But what was the point? Some kind of optimization? It wa
