The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Nicholas Lyons, is a big lobbyist in favor of undoing the ring-fencing. I'm confident he'll try to get it done by the currently very friendly government of Sunak while he's in the yearly

I didn't mean just strikes, I said "massive strikes"! :P Burned vehicles, a few hands lost to a police grenade, maybe a death or two. Sure it's a low hanging fruit, but the French executive power has been bypassing parli

Here is what I expect: 1, The Sunak Government will further undo the banking ring-fencing rules in England so large banks can play with British pension funds. Down the line (6-10 years), there will be a massive pension crisis in England. 2,

As announced on his Twitter [1], Egbert Rijke has finished and published his introduction to the topic -- a work four years in the making. [1] https://twitter.com/EgbertRijke/status/1605798086462373888

Is it? I can't see living in Europe without an IBAN for instance -- and the card that comes with one. And that's not something the government is enforcing. Same in the US, you can't not have a credit card because of the credi

Surprisingly, a not so tiny portion of the friends I made in my teenage years/early 20s, and who went on to be financially successful, happen to be psychologically unfulfilled if not distraught. And they mostly subscribe to FIRE and so

The argument is about industrial espionnage and French ruthlessness in doing it. There are clear evidence that French neocolonialism has had terrible impacts on Sub-Saharan Africa for instance and beyond (The Ivory Coast crisis is a more re

Asking someone to prove a negative is a terrible way to argue. The French government as we know it did not exist 300 years ago, neither did the modern industrial age.

There is a lot of "could", "might", "reportedly", and "plausible" in this article. I.e. suppositions and assumptions. Nothing backed up. Now, it's a standard practice in security to not discuss s

That's not a sound argument, neither a sourced one. Let's take your example, Parrot, it's not because a company can do as good with less than it means it is stolen technology. Has the world over stolen the screw tech in the U

Deleted my message to your og message because you posted this here, but you're basically basing your whole argument on one person in a cable leak. It's not much of a base.

I somewhat answered your points with my two other answers in the thread, if you want to look them up first. I've also seen the video in the past. I've known Zeihan since 2016-2017(?) when Caspian Report started citing him. Trying

But that's the point in a sense. Zeihan sells a vision of geopolitics that is what popular science is to science. It is not bad, but it does shortcuts and simplifications to fit in a one-hour talk ala TedX where seats are sold for four

I disagree. These lines of reasoning have always been there. Logistic thinking, and thus geopolitics, has always [i.e. for at least the past century] taken terrain and climate into account. Selling the old as new is a basic marketing ploy.

I knew that Zeihan would pop up before opening the article. Since the start of the 2022 Russian invasion, I've seen him and similar analysts rise in fame and it doesn't sit well with me. It isn't the Stratfor origin, or the b
