True. Rio used to be the capital, and the many revolts were one if the reasons. The middle of the country was also very unpopulated, so the location was chosen more or less as a “middle of the road” to incentivize development

Yes. They A/B tested and the flat fee model was more popular. The new directive is to increase margins, and the variable model is better at that. I can’t name sources, but it should be pretty evident just based on the new CEO public me

They’ll most likely expand the model everywhere, while still blaming “regulation”. Then push the narrative that it’s better for the drivers. They need to turn a profit any way possible, and this is a good way to skim a couple dollars per ri

The new trend in SF/bay area seems to be companies you’re applying to preparing you _specifically_ for the questions they’ll ask. People realized no one memorizes one specific search algorithm or puzzle, so they now tell you, before t

the problem I see with 4 is that the best VR experience (Oculus) is pretty much closed and kept in tight grip by Facebook. So if anyone ever starts to make any progress on a Social Presence app, it's unlikely Facebook will just "l

This sort of judgmental classicist helps no one. Plenty of people work in tech (or in any other area) primarily to pay the bills, and they don’t make anyone around then “miserable”.

This analogy makes _zero_ sense. You can make a living working exclusively with PHP, JS or RoR, for example, and the barrier of entry is nowhere near becoming a surgeon (and getting lower every day). Plenty of people switch careers as adult

No, not at all. There’s plenty of places with more economic freedom - less regulation, lower taxes, simpler rules. The US simply has more _opportunities_ and (particularly in tech/sciences) and pays _much_ more money for the same job.
