Thinking back to a link posted here a few months back [1], the call to action goes on the outside edge because it's visually the heaviest element. So if the buttons are on the right of the dialog, "OK" / "Save"

The best offsites I've gone on have been working for charities/community service. Better than hanging out with drinks or doing some other random 'fun' activities by far. I know that's not exactly the question, but a

I found myself specialized with data eng + platform skills in Clojure + Kafka + K8s + Node and it's a liability if you want to work outside of Big Tech, because few can afford to use tools like that. Node's relatively pretty expen

Windows S Mode has PyPI restricted to pure Python due to Device Guard. I'm happy to leave it on ($250 laptop). Indeed, Numpy has been a recurring blocker, maybe 3 times now. But with general peace of mind is the only way I've know

Happy to see HTMx mentioned every month or two on here lately. A+, would recommend to anyone especially newbies. Been doing web dev since the Perl / pre-PHP3 / pre-jQuery/Scriptaculous days, and I feel reincarnated into a nic

That's what I thought. Turns out constructive dismissal, choosing to quit due to poor conditions or breach of contract, qualifies for unemployment. I'd have quit a couple jobs way sooner if I'd been aware. My claim in CA was

I can easily run Pleroma on 1G VPS and Pi3s; the heaviest part is the Postgres server, which can itself be tuned to be pretty light. It relies on PG's native JSON data type which is cool. I run a couple instances and poked around with

Exactly. The key is that it's a paid service. And it looks to be based on Pleroma and they will export data and transfer domains upon request. As long as it stays like that and that's the bar across providers everyone wins.

What about starting with a public library? 120 year email + static hosting tied to library card. Start with one branch or small system, scale from there. Could reasonably be managed per branch with central support orgs. I guess most of them

10 hours a week isn’t that much. I get by with the same vegan taco 100s of times in a row. 2 hours to make the rice and beans on the weekend and freeze half of it. 20 minutes to cook one up. 5 minutes to wash the dishes. Took about 5 weeks
