Thank you for contributing something other than pop-sociology to the comments (omg race is a social construct guys). I hadn’t thought about this this way before - eventually anyone with an inclination to “rage against the machine” will have

Exactly. It’s not leaving for a 30% raise. There is a compounding effect. You’re leaving so that in a few years it’s a 200-300% raise relative to what you’re making now. That said, I don’t begrudge anyone staying for “love”. If you’re happy

I think at this point we should relent and find a different word for the actual, technical meaning of the word monopoly. It seems like any time there is an article at the top with the word monopoly in it, one of the first few comments is al

This is a great response to OPs comment. At the end of the day we should be doing what is good for the People and somehow its always assumed that they will/should be the ones impacted when policies like these are enacted. But Europe ha

I think on the mobile site 720p is the best you can do. On the app/desktop you can get 1080p. I, at least, have never seen that 1080p option on the mobile site.

I quit because I was getting 2-3 30 second ads per video, 5 minute videos that is. Ended up getting an ad blocker on my iphone and deleting the app. I now have to use youtube.com and settle for 720p, but it's far and away better than t

I realize I am a million years late to the party, but this is a good time to remind everyone to turn this “feature” off. It’s buried deep in settings but it can be disabled. The first time this happened to me I had to talk to an old employe

This is exactly right and I think a good example of why we shouldn't generalize. I grew up poor - and judge me however you'd like - but I'd put up with less ideal conditions if the pay was worth it. Reminds me of in college w

You’re assuming an even playing field. Once a corporation reaches a certain size, do you really think it’s possible for any other company to overtake it? There is in fact something stopping them. There are in fact many things stopping them.

Looking at this as a single instance of censorship as tyranny might provoke ridicule, but I see where OP is coming from. Taken in aggregate, in a world with multi-trillion dollar corporations censor their users, it's not ridiculous to

There is a whole lot of kids here with romanticized ideas of what physical labor is. My dad is a contractor and every summer through college I’d go work for him as a low-skilled laborer. I hated it at the time - all these years later I’m gr

Why this is so poorly understood by people is beyond. Small businesses always complain about how they can’t afford to pay more. But if you need to pay less than a minimum wage to make your business viable then… it’s not viable. Well..if the
