I am sorry, but I find the original HN to be more readable than after applying the extension. Maybe that's just me, but I don't consider the bigger gaps between lines to be more readable. Also the original font looks better to me.

I agree with you. Moreover, there is yet another paradox in the article - if you need that much self-hacking and self-tricking to achieve the goal, is the goal really that thing you want to achieve? I always thought that the goals should be

I see your point, but agree with the parent comment more. The current state of the C++ just doesn't require the committee to hurry up, and the language is not done, even if it would take five more years to have new standard approved. As I s

But you can already have "simple C++", just specify for your project which parts of the language you want/don't want to use, and enforce it. This I think is a good coding practice, and for example Google also have its own C++ Style guide (

Hi kreci, so as I understand it, you are basically build a niche content farm? You would buy rewritten articles for $1.75 and then try to push them to Google using seo techniques so Adsense and Amazon aff links will earn more than the expen

Not necessarily. I was once working in a large software project (500+ people), which went off-track, and then some added processes helped to save it, like for example continuous preintegration and more rigorous testing before each check-in.

I tend to agree with the blog author, that Apple didn't yet found the sweet spot for the iPad’s usage. Everyone is different, and for some people (who maybe mostly interacted with other websites), iPad can even replace a laptop. If I can sp

Why there shouldn't be a reasonable expectation of fairness, i.e. that twitter (or any free service for that matter) will not hand your nickname to another entity? I believe there indeed is an unwritten rule on the Internet, that the nickna

I like to original comments page more. The font after applying the extension is not contrasty enough, and the gap between the lines is too big. It's definitely not more readable. Generally, too much free space - I personally prefer tighter

I think it is not even an issue of the society being judgemental. In the real world, if you say something, you always say it in a certain context (family, friends, coworker, etc...). It looks like Facebook is trying to remove that context.

I didn't notice a lack of diversity in Techmeme. I consider the site to be very useful, and while they push the big companies stories above the fold, there are still a lot of interesting links to other news or opinions.

It's difficult to say regarding the lost sales. In relation with every pirated book, there are several groups of people: A) Got the pirated version, but wouldn't buy it if they couldn't get it free B) Got the pirated version, and therefore

So we should then clarify what the distinction is. I considered Readability to be a typical SaaS app, and now Apple seem to think otherwise.

I was also thinking about something similar. If users find your service on your website, you should encourage them to subscribe through it, no through in-app purchase. I think all app developers should educate people about that, so the numb

I am also surprised why MS at least doesn't talk about WP7 tablet. Nobody wants Win7 tablet with desktop software, so the only option left is that Win8 will natively support tablets, but then, what about apps?

Let's hope so, but the article put it differently - if an app presents content bought elsewhere, there must be an option to buy that content also in-app. So if you are right, the article is wrong.

What is wrong with WP7, except of the lack of apps? Or what is wrong with Microsoft in terms of providing developer tools or marketing support for their products and 3rd party programmers?
