I am afraid they mean it. I think it's about the perception how the mobile phone should be like. Not everyone considers the iPhone+iOS to be the best concept. I personally know people who think that nokia dumbphones are the best mobiles, or

What is so compelling about Angry Birds, you think? I completed the levels in the Lite version, and then switched to other games like Demolish or Cat Physics. I just don't get it why someone would play AB again and again... doesn't it get b

I think it is not exploitative if the authors knew it beforehand and agreed to it. They've got exposure as a compensation. What I find more exploitative is their working method - often, they took some hard news (which is quite expensive to

What is your experience with online backup solutions in general? I tried mozy and a few others, but I always struggled with rather slow upload speed, and ultimately found the much easier way is to buy USB harddisk, which I hide in my workpl

I partially agree, but with some caveats: 1. Future is also in the games, and here Microsoft has a very competitive product (xbox/kinect) 2. mobile race is not over yet, and WP7 is conceptually a good product, combining polished UI (aka iOS

Microsoft do NOT steal Google's search results. They use clickstream data from Bing toolbar users to improve their search results. What happened is that Google engineers engineered a use case, in which signal from those clickstream appear l

Yes. And Bing toolbar does just the same. And when those clickstreams are used as one signal of link relevancy, you get the exact behaviour they are describing on the google blog.

I disagree with you and agree with the author of the blog post. Microsoft is not copying Google's search results, rather, they use behaviour of their Bing toolbar users as one signal for their own ranking. And, if clicking through the Googl

Jason, I think this is still an open issue, as was pointed out in the comments under your Techcrunch article. There is also another possibility - that Apple just didn't like that in the new Sony app, you could buy ebooks directly, while oth

I am different. I use readability bookmarklet almost everywhere, in order to read in the unified clean design, but with the two exception: I read some blogs in Google reader, and I send some articles to Instapaper and read them in my phone.

For me it is also a better delivery method. Living in Europe, it takes about 2 weeks for print books to arrive, then I need to go to post office to pick them up, I need to pay for the delivery, etc. It is all so much easier with the ebook.

In my opinion (and personal experience), if they want to endanger the monopoly of MS Office, they would need, first of all, to provide 100% compatibility with the MS Office formats [read them and write to that format flawlessly]. At least f

I am sorry but the GUI is confusing, I am doing something and suddenly a too fast animation overlaps it. Plus, the tutorial window cannot be closed by [x] in Chrome. The idea is good but the application is too busy, at least for me.
