I understand this is a poem that is focused on artistic expression and not scientific accuracy, but I find the line about “carbon in our souls” to be out of place. I guess the rest of the poem is incidentally correct (when not abstract)

I guess you’re implying that resignation would be the more just course of action from the CEO, but I don’t think everyone sees it that way (not me for 1). I think resignation would be the more cowardly move. The ceo dug a deep hole and at l

I don’t think that’s true at all? Support was setup and had been streaming into to Ukraine for a long time before any confirmation of a war, much less images. I remember when trump was president and there was the dispute where he was holdin

Is losing information on the war really a bad thing? I mean of course it is for people living in Ukraine who need updated information to survive. (But I would also hope they have govt sponsored alternatives) But I actually thought it was de

Oh yeah you're right. I read it as "developers in the non-Bay Area" Nonetheless, I don't think the point changes. One group getting less doesn't usually mean that it's going to transfer over and some other grou

That’s true but there’s also a steep positive benefit in information density and fidelity. Compare written instructions for e.g. fixing a car vs a video of a person showing you how to do it. Latter is much more helpful

Why? The top end comp creates a competitive pressure where the middle and low end benefit and get skewed upward If bay-area comp drops, what do you think will happen to developer comp in the midwest? (refer to programmer compensation before

For games, I recommend small puzzle games. Microsoft freecell/solitaire. Match 3 games. There's some good ones, but you want the ones that really lean into being a mobile game and is not just a poor version of a full game (e.g. di

This is an unsupported hypothesis. I am a big Apple user (iPhone, air tags, air pods, MacBook etc) but I definitely don’t feel “captured” in any way. If their products start sucking then I’m voting with my feet and my wallet. I’d much rathe

The poster you are responding to is probably incorrect in many regards. There aren't really 'exceptions' just 'differences'. For example, Japan's economy definitely is not feeling good at the moment, even if so

Parent comment was about 'successful project' It's also extremely reductive to just boil everything down into 'ads'. Like for example, if Bing somehow over took Google's search, YT would still be making money.

Product-market-fit is also not everlasting. Especially in the tech industry, things change really fast and even if you achieve a strong fit 1 time, you need to adapt over time or you become irrelevant.
