You know of a way to quantify and measure “productivity” of programmers? Of code? Programmers make claims about productivity and throw the word around, like we all understand what it means.

Right, that’s my point. We only disagree about what “correct tooling” means. Since PHP and Go have everything needed I prefer not adding more abstractions and dependencies, for less code, fewer black boxes, and fewer external dependencies.

Try to understand the difference between not using a framework and inventing your own framework. No one in this thread advocated writing their own framework. I originally pointed out that PHP and Go include everything you need to write web

Semi-skilled means knowing a framework to some degree, but struggling with the language the framework is written in . Nothing to do with C++ or embedded -- I clearly contrasted Laravel et al. with PHP, and Goravel with Go. Anyone who prefe

If you know the language and libraries you can figure out any framework code, whether Laravel or some "weird homemade" thing. If you only know a framework then you have limited your options and job opportunities. And you stay in t

Frameworks do give some early traction, as I mentioned. And lots of PHP devs really only know Laravel, a shame because eventually they will have to debug it or work around limitations. I meant to make the point that frameworks come with a c

Discussed before on HN: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34550418 I Googled "github email alias" and found that link and some others reporting the same thing.

You don't like how Go implements error handling. We get it. Lots of people complain about that. Use a "proper" language more to your liking. Go's designers have explained their decisions many times, I won't repeat t

If you have experience finding, screening, vetting, hiring, and managing a team of web developers you go about hiring them like everyone else: putting up job ads, maybe engaging a recruiter. If you don't have that experience you engage

Both PHP and Go come with everything you need to build web applications in the standard libraries. I have never seen the need for a framework on top of PHP, or Go, and I have worked with a lot of web code in both languages. When I have to w

I didn't look at the OP or know their history, so I took the question at face value. I don't see the point in questioning if someone wears AirPods as hearing aids, or just pretends to, or wears them for some other reason. As an ol

That doesn’t address why anyone would specifically care if someone needed AirPods as hearing aids. People wearing AirPods bother you? I would have more concern about the malfunctioning elevators. You can’t change what other people do, proba

Companies that want to sponsor visas will advertise and recruit in your country. In the current US tech job market I don’t expect many companies will sponsor directly because they have to at least appear to have no domestic candidates first

Maybe here in the “show hn” subset. Github repos, though you’d have to do a lot of digging. “Cool” and “underrated” describe subjective judgments, not inherent properties of projects or people.
