I've always been a fan of JetBrains' IDEs (Webstorm, Pycharm), so I would imagine that their PhpStorm is similarly excellent. (Each of the ones I mentioned are language-specific subsets of IntelliJ.)

While that is a good fit for this comment, it _does_ fit in this thread as well. Others are talking about how common terrible support is, where getting money back for a terrible product requires invoking the court, etc. The GP posted an e

Holy cow, that's frightening. Mobile games with in-app payments are clear about "These cost gems {or some other bought-with-real-money mcguffin)", but refilling those gems nearly always makes it clear that you're going t

One thing they said early on in the ~2 hour video I was watching was that, while AlphaStar had access to the full data of everything within its fog of war, it seemed to need to partition its access to it, in a way that was similar to a huma

The threat of nuclear war precipitated the development of a network which could withstand widespread destruction. That's not the same as genocide (as that implies something systematic), but is does seem safe to say that having the Int

30 years ago, it was legitimately hard to separate some pieces, and so teeth were often the way to get leverage. I share your sadness at the bite marks in my old legos, and was dismayed even at the time that they happened. Now they have ex

For most of us males, prostate cancer is something we will eventually get, but is unlikely to kill us. Breast cancer seems a lot more dangerous. I of course worry about it, but it doesn't seem nearly as dangerous as breast cancer.

Dueling implies that someone who is _better at one thing_ (hurting others) is inherently Right. It also means that someone who is sufficiently good at such things can act as a bully. Dueling introduces personal risk for libelous claims, bu

At 4k resolution, a 30-40 inch monitor gives noticeably improved text quality (even when I could only get it at 30hz). Part of the reason for this is that we're looking at the screen from 2.5-3 feet away, rather than the ~6ft viewing
