I think the definition of “oligarch” is being stretched a little in the article, so I’m using it for my argument. Is Elon Musk an oligarch? Is Zuckerberg an oligarch? My point is that as long as those at the top rotate and everyone has a sh

I’ve lived in a few countries. My take is: An oligarchy where leaders frequently change based mostly on merit, with a social ladder accessible to anyone, is as close as you get to social harmony. As long as everyone has a shot, society is g

This is a pretty bad take. Many countries weigh population of voting regions. The idea is that the people in a smaller region with its own needs doesn't get its priorities relegated to oblivion just because no the same people live ther

This is a rare example of Android catching up to iOS. I was skeptical when the “handoff” family of features started to roll out on iOS, but I’ve become reliant on some of them. It’s very convenient and for the most part “it just works”.

This is very good. I can't put my finger on it, but it seems more important than a mere "gimmick." I noticed that if you click on a topic already explored, it won't open again. That's cool, I'd make it snap bac

This is very cool! I compiled it on m2 with no problems. Istambul is an excellent choice. I enjoyed watching the algorithm take for ever to find a route from the most northern part of the river to the other side :)

It doesn't shock me that there's anti-US propaganda. It shocks me that people on this site routinely fall for it.

For folks who don't know: In these HYSA, every time the interest pays (monthly), it triggers a taxable event. This might be important for you to consider. If you invest longer term in bonds and good securities instead, you could time y

> Airbus is already outselling Boeing 2-1. What's your source? I looked up the quarterly earnings report, and Boeing reports 528 planes delivered in 2023 vs 488 from Airbus. Just curious to know if you're talking dollar amount

IMO: They fired the CEO and didn't even inform Microsoft, who had invested a massive $20 billion. That's a serious lapse in judgment. A company needs leaders who understand business, not just a smart researcher with a sense of eth

Many of these guidelines essentially boil down to strategies for preventing over-engineering. I concur; in my experience, premature optimization is one of the most expensive pitfalls. This primarily stems from the fact that circumventing po

I loved fish for about 5 years. My only gripe is that going back to Mac it wouldn’t play nice with the terminal color scheme, or the dark mode switch. Anyone found a way around that?

I’d argue those cities in the east coast you mention are closer together and more densely populated. If you were to look at the northeast region by itself (Boston, New York, Washington), I bet its rail is comparable to similar European coun

Several comments on this thread tend to slip into the trap of comparing countries. It's important to remember that population density plays a crucial role in financing public infrastructure. Consider Argentina's case, for instance

Performance sucks comprared to the m1 :) I use it for dev so I don’t care. Don’t expect to train any models with it. It’s very snappy for media consumption though, no issues at all there (if you stick to ARM native apps).
