There are a lot of them, trust me. Browsers have been improving? Wonderful, but some of us still need to support the unimproved ones. As grandparent says, dealing with these quirks is a waste of time and effort. We've gotten to such a point

I didn't downvote, but it just seems silly to me to accuse Apple of revisionist history. I think they're a lot more interested in the future than the past. Apple at that point in history was very close to going out of business, Jobs said th

I don't think there's anything plausible about inferring anything from a UA string, but you make a good point here. 5.1 should come on Wednesday, hopefully for all current iOS devices and not just iPad 3.

Maybe MS and Apple think other things are much more worth talking about. I would concur, personally.

I think they probably were. Copyright holders can just keep trying to pass the same law, people will get tired of resisting, and it'll happen. In light of that, the complaint that they were unable to get out their side of the story strikes

Huh. I saw it as more of a Twitter clone for businesses, that allows you to say things that would be too sensitive to say on Twitter. My workplace used it briefly, but has switched to Socialtext. Maybe it has changed in the meantime. I'll a

At the same time, the world is full of ideas, and a pretty tiny fraction of them are any good. The world feels especially full of ideas these days, since a lot of folks now fancy themselves "creatives" (that is, people who come up with idea

I recommend not buying into this narrative. 7 really was not that much different from Vista, but people persist in this perception that Vista was an abomination whereas 7 is somehow incredible. The truth is, Windows has a huge obligation to

OK, and I don't expect that. XP is obsolete, and if people want new software they can upgrade. If they don't, well, XP appears to be working just fine for those folks, doesn't it? This is how we move forward.

You are essentially arguing that Windows Vista, 7, and 8 do not offer substantial improvements over XP. They do, though. But anyway, given their customer base and the history of their decisions, there's not a lot MS can do to make everyone

You make it sound so sinister, but this is how progress is made. As an example, OS X is so good now because Apple had the courage of their convictions to make breaks with the past. I don't think it makes sense to expect an IDE released this
