No, a ribbon microphone is sort-of a dual of a dynamic microphone if you squint hard enough. An electrostatic speaker is closer to the inverse of a condenser (capacitor) microphone

Not sure what you mean by "in a protein", but if you have a solution of some chiral chemical compound such that there's 50% of the L-enantiomer and 50% of the R-enantiomer, you get what's called a "racemic" mix

I think that if what you're looking for is to increase the speed at which you can drive something which has some parasitic capacitance, you would do that by using the techniques that are employed by e.g. gate drivers.

Very cool! Can this trick be used for piezo sensors as well? My understanding is that those too are essentially magic capacitors that sometimes move charges on their own

AFAIK, something having undefined behavior in the spec does not prevent an implementation- (platform-)specific behavior being defined. As to your point about checks being erased, that generally happens when the checks happen too late (accor

Every time they leave something undefined, they do so to leave implementations free to use the underlying platform's default behavior, and to allow compilers to use it as an optimization point

C-reduce is meant to... Reduce your files, it would not add stuff that was not there in the first place. Also, I think it's meant to only be run against the "frontend" of most languages, not full execution

You can probably ask the one who did the most reverse-engineering :) https://marcan.st/2016/06/hacking-and-upgrading-the-korg-kro... As far as I can tell, there's no custom "firmware" to speak of, i

I think that particular pattern is a perfectly reasonable way to let the user ingest an arbitrarily long list of objects without having to do any preallocations -- or indeed, any allocations at all.

At standard pressure and temperature, a sound wave travels at 343 m/s, IIRC. At a distance of 1m, those soundwaves take about 3ms to get from a pair of speakers to my ears. I can set the latency of my soundcard to as low as 0.5ms, whic

My presonus interface allows multiple applications to access it over ASIO simultaneously, while letting regular Windows audio through, at 16 samples of latency. ASIO does not mandate exclusive access, bad drivers do.

I don't think it's a software issue -- AIUI the issue is that foundries will only let you use blocks for which the process was tested, or the yields would be unreliable/all over the place
