My wife and I had our first child at the end of April, and the first few weeks of her life we had absolutely 0 time outside of caring for her and basic care/hygiene for ourselves. Absolutely nothing can prepare you for taking care of a newb

Why is the drop shadow at an angle other than straight down? It stands out like a sore thumb within the rest of iOS and makes the button design look sloppy. I appreciate the usefulness of a button class like this but the default design just

The video still shows a lot of lag between when the stylus touches the glass and the pixels in the app show the pen trail. This needs to be heavily optimized or else it will make their hardware a lot of engineering work for nothing and us

The only time I don't use Photoshop is when I'm doing a super simple design (very flat, no graphics) but other than that I'm pushing pixels in Photoshop first before I jump into HTML & CSS.

If you're trying to get tableview cells in iOS to "resize themselves" you're not quite getting how they're supposed to be built if you want them to scroll fast. The general way to achieve fast scrolling of complex, graphical cells is to pre

I think there may be something to this. I'm used to programming in PHP and Objective-C and going to Ruby just throws my brain for a loop. I just can't grok it, and reading someone else's Ruby code confuses the hell out of me. I'm more of a

From people I've talked to in my family and others (non-technical folks) the idea of purchasing an iPad when it first launched wasn't incredibly alluring for anyone who's not an early adopter. Regular buyers like to wait until 1) reviews ar

Due to how they implemented the "panels" interface, swiping left-to-right on a row will pull the entire panel, so they had to implement it as only right-to-left to expose the actions. Kinda annoying, but it was a design decision forced on t

I think 37signals won't do that for the same reason Apple won't make a $399 laptop, they don't want to be in that business. That's not the business they're in, and knowing what business you're in and not in is extremely important. I'm sure

I totally disagree, $20/mo for a service like Basecamp is not expensive. I pay $20-50/mo per month for a whole host of services (hosting, backup storage, payment processing, etc.) and don't really think twice about them since they're busine

To change the sidebar color, you can go into the default Theme directory, find the new global theme file and update it manually. It's all JSON, so just search the file for "sidebar" and you should find the RGB string to play with.
