Very cool, I built something similar for a marketing application called Bronto a few years back. Here's a screenshot: http://cl.ly/LMn2 Same kind of in-out flow but for marketing, sending emails, segmenting contacts, etc. The fun part was

I wrote three different comments and deleted them all, really didn't have much to add, except, as a product guy who's never raised money before and doesn't know much about it, these types of posts are incredibly insightful and make me hopef

It's a DIV with a border-radius and a semi-transparent black background. It's just CSS, why use a jQuery plugin? Why not just quickly build it yourself?

There's some odd execution-level details I noticed also: all the big grey buttons for downloads look pre-pressed because they use a dark-to-light gradient which makes them look beveled in. In case the designers have never actually seen a ph

Nice themes! It's pretty cool to see all these screenshots and the background color leaking into the tabs... I'm the designer of the Sublime Text UI theme and Jon was adamant about making the tab background using the color of the theme back

None of the map tiles are retina-optimized, it looks terribly blurry on my iPhone. Also it doesn't try to autocomplete addresses as I type them in, I find that super helpful on all other map apps. Absolutely nothing makes me want to use thi

Parse and Stripe are two startups with some amazing design talent on board. It seems every webpage and blog entry for each of these companies has beautiful, custom icons/illustrations for each main point or section. These are the little det

I know two couples who waited till their mid-30s to have children and after various miscarriages they both delivered boys with Down Syndrome, so was that worth partying in their 20s? No.

I don't like the idea that "having fun" and "building a career" are mutually exclusive entities that don't touch on a Venn diagram. I built a career in my 20s based on things that excited me as a teenager, and I'm still excited by my career

Just to chime in here, I personally know two 34+ year old moms who had children in the past 2 years with Down Syndrome, after having numerous miscarriages. It seems a lot of young geeky guys commenting here forget that it's not just men wh

I'm a 29-year old male who spent his 20s building a career I love and now has a 6-month old daughter, so this quote: > Don't waste your 20's "building a career". You've got your 30's and 40's and 50's to do that. Don't be in a rush to h

Extremely well. People who are users of your service enough to trust you with their mobile number are typically avid shoppers. (My experience is only with e-commerce sites in this context.)

This looks pretty great, just one thing I wanted to share is that advanced segmentation and re-marketing in the enterprise email world has been the norm for more than a few years. I used to work at Bronto (one of many enterprise email marke

Also, calling -imageNamed to load your images will automatically cache the contents. Numerous Apple engineers have told me not to draw UIs in code and just to use images instead, so although it's a fun challenge, there really is no upside.

For someone that cares so much about two-spacing I'd assume he'd also set up his HTML/CSS so that it actually preserves his two spaces after a period by some insertion of an HTML entity. As it stands now, if you View Source he definitely us

Nothing kills the illusion of an iPhone app feeling native faster than getting rid of overflow bouncing in a scrollable view. I understand there are performance benefits, but it feels so wrong on iOS.
